Part of what makes the high octane college offenses go is that they run ultra efficient practices. There's a very specific plan and cadence to them, and keeping the staff together means Babers won't need to spend time bringing the staff up to speed on how to manage that time.

I know, I know. People are going to have doubts that this is actually any different. It will be a struggle because they think accepting that as true means it condemns other coaches as inefficient. I get it. Just trust it, this is part of the magic. We're going to need to practice differently in order to be successful, and these coaches will help make those practices hum.

Totally agree. He didn't have the success he has by himself. He, and his team are what got them to the point they are now. Notice I say "they" since Babers has brought the same 7 or 8 guys with him to both stops. They have achieved this success as a staff, and have earned to climb the ranks together. I am 100% fine with Babers bringing almost all of his guys. I would really like to see Acosta take the final spot, but beggers can't be choosers.

I would like to see Acostia too because he has proven himself as a recruiter. If they have a spot for him, that would be the cherry on top of all of this.

Agreed. Change can be a bit uncomfortable at times but I'm going to let the guy who has been a winner everywhere hes been choose who he wants along side him.

We are about to benefit from what many here were pissed about when Marrone bolted and took the entire staff with him. Chemistry in any group of individuals is difficult to cultivate, and it's hard to replicate if you change any part of the group. The more you can keep it together, the better. It's basic systems theory.

Exactly. The thing that will expedite the players grasp of the changes and what needs to be done will be the staff being on the same page.

i think when you go out and hire a [possibly] rising head coach you have to give him full control over his staff. that's why we are hiring him. i think this guy wants to win above all else, i don't think he is doing this just to give his buddies some raises. he will bring his guys along and if they don't work out there is no reason to think he won't make changes.

but in the short run it makes way more sense to impose a new system on a program by cleaning house and bringing in a coaching staff that is already on the same page, rather than having to train a whole team of players and some coaches at the same time. also, it helps rule out the small potential that the holdover coach may work to undermine the new coaching staff with players that like him. the players have to either get on board with the new staff or get out. it may be that hiring an all star team gives you a more talented staff, but maybe a staff of guys that are on the same page and like working together can be as or more effective.

maybe when you hire a coordinator that never hired a staff before, you can be like hey dude, you should keep dude X or Y, and he might do it to be cool about it. but in this case there is a new AD, and new Prez, a new head coach that has been a head coach with some success, and they don't owe anybody jack squat and quite the contrary, they are seemingly cleaning up mess after mess. you can not placate former players and they haven't. they don't owe some assistant coach a damn thing, certainly not over a few players or a recruit here or there. start winning some games and babers will recruit the pants off the other guys.

whether it works or not we'll see, but i like it that we are seemingly all in and i am more sold on babers than i would have been on frost.

Do we really think Acosta can't be replaced? From our day jobs, most of us know, everyone is replacable. And if you do it right, you end up getting a better performer. I don't want anyone from the old staff, rip the band aid off and move on

I don't think Baber's wants him coaching WR or TE either

This is really happening. I can't believe it. There's finally a college football program with the nuts to bring the Texas Air Raid to the northeast - and it's our program that's doing it.

I just...I can't...

I have no doubt the staff is going to be successful. My only hope is that when it comes time to lock up the staff after the 9 win season in our 2nd year, the school doesnt cheap out and pays up to keep the band together.

I'm not worried about this too much. I think this administration gets it.

Plus they probably all have a bunch of orange ties and polos from their time at Bowling Green so it should help them all save on new clothes.
Maybe. But they're probably all tainted by that real !tty brown that BGSU mixes with their orange just like the Clowns do. Only worse use of the color orange is when its mixed with Maroon like VT does.

Just wait until Dino leaves in 3 years...this place will be on meltdown mode.

It helps that we play in a Dome and most of our conference games will be played in the South. You can't say that for the rest of the Northeast teams.

If so, it would be purely for money. He'll really miss playing half the games in a dome. If he gets a better offer, he would likely bring it to Coyle first to see if he could match it.
