I'm listening to Allen Griffin on Orange Nation. 50% of what he says is "You know..." and another 20% is "it's just one of those things". there was some substance beyond that if you listened for it. Adrian Autry is a little better-spoken but typically says even less. GMAC is very analytical and has a sense of humor, making him a much better listen. He's got less experience and seniority than Allen and Adrian and there the black/white issue but Gerry would make a much better listen in radio shows, interviews and press conferences. A/A, at best, would be more in the Belichick mode, saying as little as possible and counting seconds until the show is over, quite a change from what we are used to. That doesn't mean they wouldn't be better coaches but this is a "Face of the Program" issue. Who would create more enthusiasm for the program and higher ratings for the shows? I'm not even sure I'd do a summary of a Coach Autry or Coach Griffin show. Then again, that might be a reason to go outside the program.

You know?

It's a little ironic that Boeheim the Eldest's success over 46 years is a big part of the reason behind the current inquisition.
This just isn't Syracuse basketball.
46 years without a losing season.
Now 9-11???????

I think Red is the tallest of the assistant coaches, so if we stay in house, I want him.

There are several criteria on the list that need to be checked off when hiring the next coach, and how they would do on a Thursday night radio show from a random restaurant is... not high.

THAT SAID... keep doing your recaps!

Public relations is not at the top of the priority list but it's on it. And I wonder if the public persona tells us anything about recruiting ability. I'm sure Jim is a different guy when he's in 'recruiting mode' than when he's doing a news conference, (he's certainly different on his radio show). But I have a feeling with A/A that what you hear is what they get.

Syracuse will only start to attract top HS recruits if they match what other SEC schools are doing. The NCAA is allowing direct payments to players. NIL bags are what is going to attract recruits to Syracuse.

Adam Weitsman is our best chance to match what the SEC is doing. If Hop or Gmac is Weitsman and JB’s choice, then pair them with an experienced coach like IU did with Thad Matta and add a younger assistant coach like Jeremy Pope to the staff. If GMac is chosen as the next HC, add Timmy Welsh, Devo and Pope plus a few recent SU players as analysts to work with positional groups.

You would think SEC schools were that dominant in the top 10 the way some of you talk.

Outside of Kentucky, look at where the top 100 HS recruits are going. LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, UGA, TAMU. There’s a reason why top recruits aren’t even considering Syracuse anymore

I know where they are going thar’s why I engaged you. You’re creating a narrative that is an exaggeration and strawman argument.

I just checked rivals and they have 4 of the top 20 recruiting classes, ACC 5, and Big 10 4.

And Georgia is terrible.

And with the portal, there will be talent to build even if our pockets aren't as deep. Kids want to start and play a lot. The goal is still the NBA and not a couple 100K in college. We just need a coach who can play the new recruiting game better than the current guy.

Agreed.

We lost recruits to Louisville, Oregon, Duke and Notre Dame this cycle of guys we really went after….but sure let’s focus on the SEC as being our issue and ignore the fact our coach is nearly 80.
