One week… this time, 7 days from now, we’ll be getting ready to head up that hill and get our first glimpse of the 2023 Syracuse Orange Football squad.

I’m bullish on this years’ possibilities. I think this team can execute and perform at a high level. And I’m really excited to see how sharp they come out against Colgate.

This is the ramp up we’ve always wanted. FCS / MAC / peer school followed by Army and into the conference slate against our toughest foe, at home, earlier in the season where we have the best chance of our depth and/or injuries not having as great of an impact.

Now, it’s just about execution. We’ve got the pieces.

This is always my favorite time of year.

First football games of the year are like first time s€x…. frequently clumsy, with lots of fumbling around, and always end too soon. Still worth the effort.

I know this is the first game of the year, but it doesn't move the needle for me much at all. Don't even know if I will be able to watch it live (YouTube TV).

But glad Syracuse football is back. Looking forward to a good season. Would like to see 8 wins this year and think it is more than possible. And let's finally get over the hump and beat Clemson

You'll be able to watch it through the Watch ESPN app by signing in with your YouTube TV credentials.

Or over before anything even started, much like I'm hoping the Colgate game will go.

That’s one way to put it

This will be the 59th straight year ive gone to the home opening game with my Dad. Everyone of them has been special.
We have the pieces this year to compete with every team we play.
Lets go Orange!

That’s a helluva run, man. Very cool. Congrats to you and your dad for that.

My distance from cuse may never make that possible with my daughter but I would absolutely be overjoyed if I could have at least 1 game a year with my daughter in the Dome for the next 54 years (already on a 5 year streak!).

I am in awe of you and your Dad. Many people don’t get close to that kind of bond. Cheers brother!

We dissected the paper today but as we both said nothing will ever beat the Old Scout. Dads excited to see LA this year super glad that everything worked out for him, and he is a big fan of JB as well as a few years ago my dad had a chance to talk to him and came away really liking him. Last point for now Dad said that the women who worked the Varsity forever is no longer there. Hope he's wrong.

Mike Waters should absolutely do an interview/cover story about this next year for #60.

Man what a thread. It has me fired up for the season opener, thinking about All4SU losing his virginity (words I honestly never thought I would utter), and what is easily one of the most impressive SU fan accomplishments I've ever read on here with 59 straight openers attended.

kcsu correct me if I'm wrong but the first one would have been 1964, #9 Syracuse vs. Kansas at Archbold, a 38-6 win?

Her name is Elli Darmoyslis. There aren’t many institutions in Syracuse. She is one of them.

Agree, hope she still is working. At least for game days!

I didn’t lose it. I know exactly where it went.

She was there forever. Was in there a year or two back and she was still there. I first saw her in 1987. If I recall, I think the dude she used to work with back then killed someone

She was there when the ACCN did the 3 Days in Cuse thing a year or two ago.

I dont remember the game. I was 6. What i remember was my Dad getting there early and taking me to Lincoln. He told me that if we ever got separated to just go to Lincoln and he would meet me there.
One year during a Penn state game a bad fight broke out. We were sitting around the 20 yard line, low, right end zone and im not sure how but i ended up being separated from my Dad and made my way to Lincoln sure enough there he was.
Years later im living in Colorado and my Dad calls. Family issue not good. Dad asked me to come home to talk about it. I flew in and met him at Lincoln and we walked the campus as he filled me in on the situation.
Im extremely blessed to have had great parents who did and continue to in my Dads case live his life for his family. Syracuse sports and in particular are a thread that is filled with so many great moments. Most of which have little to do with the game.
Its like a great Thanksgiving dinner with your family. The food doesn't really matter.
So Saturday will be our 59th , we will beat Colgate but the game as always will take a back seat to the main event which is simply being with my Dad, our family and friends.

Does the lead guy still live in Syracuse?
Steven Page left the group about 15 years ago. Luckily for the group, they used two lead singers. Last I knew, which was a few years ago, Steven still lived in Fayetteville. He posted a picture a few days ago of himself and Chubby Checker from the Fair, so my guess is, he still lives in the 315.
