Only 26 K For NCarolina

I was just in Pittsburgh you can live 10 miles outside the city and still be an hour away, the traffic is brutal going through the city. And there is a ton more to do there than in Syracuse, but drinking on ice doesn't help either

Most of our kids live hours away from campus. My guess is Pitt's kids for instance aren't more than an hour away and want to get outta their parent's basements for a night in January.

Same reason so many of our potential major donors aren't properly cultivated - they live far away from SU.

That's probably true, but Pitt is just one example. SU is the only school in the country that I have seen that consistently does not have a student section when students are on break. Surely we aren't the only school in the country that draws the majority of their students from outside the area. :noidea:

We probably are in fact - in comparison to whatever we've seen on TV. Duke is similar (and their student section is pretty deceiving, it's small and made for TV). And it' not like our kids are an hour away tucked away in Watertown or Elmira.

Even if that is true (which there's no way to easily verify), the school could still easily get 500-1000 kids (SU students or not) into a student section. The only excuse not to is that they want more money/don't want the added effort.

Where are they going to stay - the dorms are closed.

Local college students (SU or not). They will be staying at their parents' houses. There are also hundreds (if not thousands) of SU students that live in off-campus housing.

They're demolishing the State Fair Grandstand on Saturday afternoon. Using real explosives and everything.

And the public is invited to come watch. Seriously.

Our student section is about 3000. When we played Pitt they had the one small section right behind the basket which may have been 5-600 students. So I kinda agree with you for the one lower level section right behind our basket. There are a lot of local kids that go to SU. I personally know of 6 just in the freshman class from 1 HS. Don't know how many would go but if that one section had been advertised as $10 for students that stayed on campus or local they may have gotten 500. I know my freshman son would rather sit there with other like minded students than sit with me which he did for 15 years.

School doesn't start until the 19th, not sure why anyone would want to drive hours and hours for a weekend game - that pretty much kills the off campus student thing. Having local teenagers sit in those seats at some discount making pretend they go to SU, well good luck with that one.

It's a big game over break, it happens.

why not? its a pretty cool thing. although more for a regular high rise than a spread out grandstand.

of course Pitt only seats 10K and of that how many total are students in any given game where you can see them under 1K? There were lots of students at the clemson game just not all in one section.

In the stone ages SU made available tickets to students to buy for the vacation games. Do they still do that?

It worked better when the Georgetown game was the day or two after break started as opposed to this.

Anyway our bigger issue is whats on the court as opposed to who is in the stands.

I remember them doing that. I don't think they do now cause my son never mentioned it.

Which is nice, but those tickets aren't in the student section.

did SU go thru with the plan to throw the band out of its seats and sell those at a premium?
