OOC Schedule

Hey to be the best you have to beat the best...so yeah i agree we should at least try and get to average first. Lets start scheduling average teams that we may beat.

It's not like USF is a top ten perennial power. The more times we can play in Florida, the better it will help our recruiting.

They are a school chocked full of athletes. One more win gets us closer to where we need to be. Boeheim doesn't schedule like this, for good reason.

We play at a top 5 school in FL every other year.

And next year we get LSU...on the road.

Our other two OOC games -- Middle Tennessee and Central Michigan -- aren't gimmes.

Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how Wildhack addresses this. We've done a lousy job of scheduling for years.

They're 8-2 against us. Playing a team you only beat 20% of the time when you don't have to play them anymore is not smart.

Playing a Florida team and usually losing to them will not help recruiting more than winning games and making bowls. We need to be gifting ourselves 4 OOC wins every year at this point.

BS, just play better.

Hard to do when you're going against teams with better players than you have. The only guy we've put in the NFL in years is a punter. USF is bigger, stronger, faster, deeper, and better than us. "Play better" is a meaningless phrase in that context.

USF was pretty bad when we agreed to the game; our game down there last year was the turning point for Taggert and their program. I agree their talent is far superior right now, but scheduling this series wasn't unreasonable when we agreed to it.

Still don't see the upside to it. As noted above, they're not a "name" even when they're good. Even though it's a win that's been hard to come by, even if we get it it's not going to make any waves nationally.

I'm in favor of playing the scrubbiest teams we can find and getting wins. Playing mediocre(or better) programs with no name value is pointless. We don't even need to take our shots with LSU's and ND's...we get chances to get that program changing upset in conference every year now.

When Babers cleaned house he should've canned Herm as well.

We are seriously to the point where people will argue that we shouldn't play a team that has been in existence for 19 freaking years?

We aren't having the usual conversation about LSU, ND, etc. It's a directional Florida school.

There were always faster than us, since the BE days, and it was only two years ago when we scheduled the series, nothing has changed since then, or ever really.

We were up 17 and laid an egg, it's nothing to do with scheduling.

Doesn't matter how long they've been around. WE have 4 top 10 programs on our schedule, and whenever we scheduled this we knew we had 3 top 10 teams on our schedule.

I'm with you. There's a reason middle of the road SEC teams schedule scrubs ooc.

Nothing wrong with an easy schedule while you build a program.

Tired of non football on the field related excuses.

We stunk, doesn't matter who we played.

It amazes me that we are saying we shouldn't schedule a Non power five team.

Playing ND makes more sense than USF. They both usually beat us, but at least if/when we beat ND there's some buzz at comes with it. USF does nothing for us if we actually beat them, which we usually don't. Pointless series.

If it's not a blatant cash grab it should be a guaranteed win.
C'mon man. You've been around long enough. There is no such thing as a guaranteed win. Who's to say that we would even beat UMass.

We have a much better record against ND.

Based on "doing nothing for us" argument we shouldn't play UCONN, Army, etc.

We are talking about the University of FREAKING South Florida! Stop blaming scheduling.

I've been around long enough to know Mass football minus Victor Cruz stinks. :)

What do games from ages ago matter?

You can cast a net in Florida and field a pretty good football team.

USF is a team full of FL recruits. That team has more talent 1-85 than we do.
We don't have enough talent. We shouldn't be playing talented teams that do us no good if we beat. This series was bad. USF is a talented mid major.
Teams like Umass are full of 2nd tier Northeast recruits. Less talent on roster.

We would beat UMass 9 out of 10 times. USF is a 5 out of 10 times.
We should have 3 easy non conference games each year. This year we had 1.
USF and @UConn were awful non conferences games because they are competitive games.
