I've tried two different computers and three browsers, and the "quality" of the archived video for the Marshall game is still horrendous. Is anyone else having this problem? Maybe our guys have suddenly acquired the power to teleport from one spot on the floor to another. Or maybe this is the lousiest excuse for video that I've seen since I spent a summer in Russia twenty years ago.

Much more importantly, can I have thread view on this forum for Christmas?

Its your computer/bandwith most likely

hmmm...the game live video was horrible...jumpy the whole first half...a bit better in the second...worst game I have seen on all access

Nah. I've tried wired connections, right-next-to-the-router connections, and the latest Apple processor (on multiple browsers), and it's still all . I blame Orange All-Access. And now you, for blaming me.

It's not your computer. The video wasn't connecting right for like 10 hours after they posted it and once they fixed it, it's still very choppy (gets better in some parts of second half).

Div II schools post all their videos online in HD, we get this for higher price. Oh well.

The Marshall game was very choppy, especially compared to others this year. Perhaps they had technical difficulties? The "broadcast" didn't start until 18:50 remained in the first half.

The thing I didn't like was the fact that the link didn't work until about 10:30 the next morning, as someone else mentioned below.

Every game on OAA looks like crap.

This.

Some of the pirated feeds even looked better. Considering the price they charge, it's pretty outrageous for the quality we get.

I emailed about any updates coming to OAA (esp HD feeding). I doubt they'll respond but we'll see.

I e-mailed them this morning, too, and specifically asked them to reload/repair the video. I've had decent luck in hearing back from them in the past and will let you folks know if there's another chapter to this story. Of course, if the quality of the native recording blows, there's nothing they'll be able to do to improve it. But it'll still be their fault for failing to obtain better video footage. I appreciate the fact that those guys give this Texas-imprisoned fan a chance to see a lot more games than would otherwise be the case--but in this day and age, it just shouldn't be that hard. Particularly when we're paying a pretty tidy price for it.

Screw Orange All-Access. I had a monthly subscription, and I paid this month's fee before deciding to cancel. Looking at my account, it said my subscription was still good until 1/2/12, which makes sense since, after all, I paid for the entire month. However, I couldn't get the Marshall game to load because it said I had canceled my subscription. I contacted the people at OAA, told them what was happening, and they basically just said "Oh well, you're out of luck because you canceled."

So even though I pre-paid for the entire month of December, they were not going to allow me to actually use OAA to watch anything. That's total bush league, if you ask me.

Note: I was able to get my refund, but I'd have preferred for them to keep the money and allow me to actually use the remainder of my subscription, which again, still should have been good for the rest of the month.

I know people who stream some competitive events on shoestring budgets who get higher quality feeds for those who want to watch live, and after event ends post the video in 720p and 1080p. Seriously it costs like nothing to do this, outside of hosting costs which we pay for.

Also it's a joke that their archive video is the same quality as what they streamed. Unacceptable. But I haven't been able to have them do anything about it in the past.

Also technically speaking their design for already posted (non-live) video is terrible. There is no pre-loading (such as you see on youtube or anywhere else for that matter) and it can only re-stream it real time. So if you're on a crappy connection there is no option to open the video, pause, let it sit for 20 minutes, and then watch it. You're out of luck as it's same bandwidth requirement as live video.

That is BUSH league. I was worried if I cancelled early something like that might happen looks like I am going to have to time my cancellation for the last game on OAA.

I purchased a 24 hour OAA pass for the Marshall game and was never able to connect. Just an absolute waste of my money.

Thankfully, a poster provided a Justin.tv link which was absolutely outstanding.

So, here's the response I got this evening:

Hello,

Thanks for reporting your issue. However, we only host the streams the universities provide. We will forward your complaint to the athletics department to improve your viewing experiences. Sorry for the inconvenience, thanks for your patience.

Don't we have a former trustee around here to shake things up at the Athletic Dept.?
How might this "improve my viewing experiences"?
Perhaps I need to get a life?
</rhetorical questions>

The customer service at Sidearm is clearly lacking.

Yea they are a 3rd party that just does the hosting. So we can't do much by bombarding them with e-mails.

Someone with connections at the athletics department needs to get them to get their act together and at least provide streams of the same quality that Division II schools have.

I tried to watch the marshall game the morning after the game and as stated above, it wasn't loading properly. I was just wondering how long after a game ends is the archived video usually posted? Thanks!

OAA especially crappy today ... and no sound? LOL ... they are rediculous.

It sucks.. no sound.. but when the game is over they immediately cut it off. Freakin unbelieveable.

i don't want to pile on, but i find it amusing that a bootleg internet link stream looks better than the one OAA charges for.
I had my own issues with my subscription, and ended up getting a refund. i give them credit for that at least.
