What if we ripped up our current field and replaced it with an all Orange field ala Boise St's blue turf.

Orange field, white lines, white sidelines and blue end ones with orange letters.

We'd be the talk of football. Recruits would love it. And Fuggetaboutit with the Branding!

An Orange turf could give the ol dome a real shot in the arm.

You can actually get a feel for it watching Boise who also has orange in their color scheme and on their field. I think the orange parts of their field actually look better than the blue b/c the orange doesn't have that reflective sheen the blue and some green fields do.

Every uni combo would look sick against an orange field and think about a full house with an orange out in the stands and an all orange field. It would be bezerk.

I honestly think it's only a matter of time until schools are start experimenting with different color fields so why not be on the front end of the movement.

And I always get a little pumped to watch when I flip on and see Boise St is playing on their crazy blue field - why not make that us?

We're Syracuse! I'd like to think we wouldn't have to resort to gimmicks like that

Pretty sure you can't do colored fields anymore, could be wrong though.

Here's a preview... assume individual blue seats instead of platinum bench seating.

That image is poorly photoshopped though because the white lines are orange tinted too

If the white was all pure white it would look SICK

Players and recruits would LOVE it and program would have a much higher profile

I suspect that you may be on an island by yourself on this subject. The rest of the posters in this thread don't want to see how (bad) this would look.

I definitely understand if people don't like radical change and sometimes I don't either but this move would resonate with recruits. It would up the SwaggerCuse vibe. Just like the unis - which I happen to love.

The thing is unless there is an NCAA rule against it you will definitely start seeing customized fields in the next few years. It's a natural evolution and I'd eager be a leader than a follower.

ijs ... you heard it here first ; )

I think it would make it nearly impossible to see the ball against an orange background.

I like the idea as well - an orange field would be pretty cool.

People talked about Boise State because they won all their games. The blue field was just an additional gimmick.

Now that Peterson is gone and they're a more normal 5-2, no one talks about Boise St.

It would be a gimmick, and if combined with a team that doesn't go 12-0, we'd be a laughing stock.

Also, when I turn my tv on I wouldn't recognize the dome. It's really important that I'm not alienated emotionally via change.

Well, it would make the Dome the natural choice for an annual reenactment of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

They are starting to do this funky stuff with basketball courts and while I agree that the orange football field is a bit much, I'd love to see a prototype of one of those new basketball courts for SU even if we'd never use it.

I thought they made that a rule as well with the Boise state field being allowed to stay only because it had been around for so long and was tradition.

Yes. And then if we played in all orange uniforms against an orange field, no one could actually see us. There would just be the faint perception of possible movement. Orange Mist

That might not be a bad idea until we start winning at home again...
