Oronde Surgery Tweet

Well with this injury they will have to tell him based on what he did last year and medical info, he won’t be the first kid to be in that position. I have no idea what they will tell him, I think he was a 2nd round pick coming into this season. Now?….
I don't see him drafted without playing again. All Americans go undrafted all the time. OG is a very good WR that does all the little things and is great making plays on the ball. But to miss a season and get drafted a WR would need to have out of this world measurables like speed, height or workouts. Absent those, he's looking at a free agent spot in my opinion.

Why assume that none of the guys in the program or coming in can’t play a lick?

If Beck is the Qb whisperer that he is shouldn’t he be able to get them ready to be competitive?

CDRW isn’t it

Braden Davis maybe, but he’s unproven and he couldn’t pass CDRW

Jakhari might be great but he’s still going to be a true freshman and will need to learn.

We 100% will go after a proven qb in the portal, no doubt about it

How do you know CDRW isn’t it?

Davis has been here for two/three months.

and if they can do better in the portal they should go get one.

All I gotta say is in Beck I trust. If he thinks he has something in Davis or CDRW or Williams then that’s all I need to know. If we do go to the portal for a proven QB then the answer is obvious. I guess simply said if we see an offer extended to a transfer QB who was a starter this season somewhere then we know the answer.

If that’s the case, then we just may have him back.

Do football players come back from Lisfranc?

If the injury was stable and does not need surgery, it is possible for a return to playing in 10 weeks. Unfortunately, as we said, athletes of a professional level need surgery in almost every case. This puts their return to the playing field at 3-6 months after the injury.

This is a different situation as someone has eluded to. Oronde is blessed to have no financial necessities like some other may due to his fathers NFL career. He probably can make a great amount of NIL coming back next year. If he comes back, you know he will be stronger and faster then ever. He will have all the best rehab and training known to man. I think he is going to bet on himself next year being a monster and locking in a first round pick. I just have a feeling he doesn’t want to end his time here on this note.

Yup, and we actually have a pretty good chance to get one as the recruiting pitch isn’t that hard. Assuming Beck comes back, assuming we did in this season strong and go to back to back bowl games. Good chance Gadsden comes back, can’t see him taking the chance after a season ender from week 2, Lequint back, Brown, Isaiah Jones and Hatcher back. Almost your whole offensive line. There’s ALOT to like for a proven QB to come in here for a year and win some ball games. We cannot have a pocket passer QB, we need someone that can scramble and I think we are good. I have the upmost faith in Beck and we have ALOT potentially coming back on this offense that a QB will find attractive. I don’t think CDRW is the guy, gives Davis another year to learn the offense and gives Jakhari a year to learn the offense and redshirt. If I’m being completely honest, I think we take a one year proven QB and I think Jakhari is the starter the year after for his redshirt freshman season

Dad said it was lisfranc

5 months with screws in it

10-12 month recovery.
10-12 is stretching it. 6 months I've seen athletes can run. There's been many examples of this injury in the NFL. The two that come to mind for me:

Travis Etienne had a Lisfranc his rookie year in the 2nd game and came back last year playing 17 games and gained over 1100 yards.

Freeney had a Lisfranc Injury in game 8 of 2007 and played 15 games in 2008 collecting 8 sacks.

Purdue did it. I think we would be content with a Hudson Card type QB at the helm next season, don't you? It's not like the Boilers are some powerhouse program that gets the pick of the litter. But the stable we have all are good too. We should be ok.

Aside from all that, I wish OG all the best and a super speedy recovery. He's true Orange, especially wanting to come back to make a difference for Syracuse. Wish there were more out there like him, and I hope he's ultra-successful throughout his career given his commitment and dedication.

Hope so, as I agree with the first two points.

Cam Newton. Hurt in September then was cut in the spring. Pats picked him up in July so he hadn’t played in 10 months.

I hope he wants to come back and play for the CUSE next season.
But I could also see him NOT play but recover and TRAIN for the next 14 months
and hit some combines in early 2025. Put up some great numbers and get drafted.

Eddie Jackson of the Bears was injured November 29th, 2022 and started week 1.

Our ability to draw interest and get serious consideration from talented QB transfers has been greatly enhanced thanks to Mr Shrader. This is now Beck's offense and his rep on the line.
If he rolls the dice with what he's got, count me in but I have to think there are guys out there he recruited and missed on that might give him a mulligan.

I'm guessing we will see a new face or two.

Yup absolutely and the better shrader plays this season, the better the talent will be wanting to come to Cuse

So that would be about 9 months?

I’m not sure he’s drafted in the top 4 rounds right now. He is a talented kid, but he has been schemed open a lot in this offense as a move TE. He’s not big enough to play that at the next level right now.

I’m not sure he can get enough separation against NFL caliber corners right now. Would benefit from one more year of tape, IMO.

FWIW CBS had OG has a top 35 prospect for the draft and one of the draft guys said he thinks he's a top 10 WR in the draft class.

his old man spent many years in the NFL (and abroad) . i'm guessing he's still loaded. don't see money being a big issue. let's hope he can recover and work himself back into playing shape next season. wherever.
