OT: Another reason not to like Lebron

Where someone like Melo is more judicious with his shot selection and would rather get his teammates going than himself in ballgames. Thats why the Nuggets were so successful when Melo was there and the Cavs were just a one man band who never did much, other than that lucky Finals run. Melo puts the team ahead of himself. Lebron thinks he IS the team.

I'm having trouble getting my head around this post. Lebron's career FG percentage is 48% (Melo's is 43%), and his career assist average is 7.0 (Melo's is 3.1). So your first sentence has no factual support whatsoever.

A one man band who never did much? By calling the Cavs a "one-man band", you are complimenting Lebron. The Cavs were the worst team in the NBA when Lebron got there, and the worst team in the NBA when he left. He's Peyton Manning in that sense (only albeit, a worse tipper). He carried a team of total garbage to the Finals in 2007, and the best record in the NBA in 2009 and 2010.

Just for the sake of argument... You're a GM. Consider it a fantasy league. You have Pick #1 in the draft. How many other (current) NBA players would you choose before you got to Lebron?

Since I am much more likely to serve Lebron a meal than to own and NBA franchise, I only care about how much he doesn't tip.

The thing about Lebron that makes him overrated, like an Allen Iverson, is the fact that he shoots a horrible percentage from the field. He is basically a gunner, very low efficiency rating. An entirely bizarre post.

The Cavs WERE a one-man-band. The 'man' was Lebron, and he CARRIED that sorry team to the finals. A 'lucky' run? You want to discount luck? Like The Pass to Cipolla? Like the Wallace near half-court shot against Georgia? Those two 'lucky' plays that carried us to the Finals in 96? They don't count? I would suggest what Lebron did in a series of playoff series to reach the finals constitutes more than luck. Factor in that he did it, also, over an 82 game series and your notion of luck or small sample size becomes even more ridicalis.

You also ignore that Melo, for a long while, was a more immature player. A gunner. While Lebron's true skill is in playmaking, passing, and setting up others. Melo DIDN'T put the team ahead of himself. He's much better now, but Lebron was a more mature player than Melo from the beginning.

I say all this as the person who posted the Ioss story link. I despise Lebron. But, truth is truth.

Here's the problem with Lebron: no daddy to instill character. Incredible, early talent in an environment without 'stars.' During his formative years, he never had to develop an intellect. Then came the sycophants, fans, and then came the money and power. They say absolute power corrupts absolutely. Well, absolute power and a jillion dollars in a two-cent head equals this kind of behavior. As a kid, he probably heard about some celeb not permitting 'regular folks' to address him/her, and he thought it was cool. As a kid, he probably saw a motorcade and thought it was cool. Now, as an adult, he doesn't have the sense or intelligence or judgment to realize what adolescent, immature fantasies are versus real-world behavior of decent people.

So, you need a dad to instill character, or you're doomed to be characterless? you.

I respect Lebron as a player and think hes an unreal athlete but this information I just found out made me question his character much more so than the decision. Turns out he is just a horrible tipper. Once left a 10 dollar tip for an 800 dollar meal at his favorite steakhouse after keeping the restaurant open till 4 am. There is no excuse for this, whats throwing down 200 dollars for a guy like this, for people that work real hard and arent as fortunate?

Say what you want about Marc Cuban, guy has class. Left a 20,000 dollar tip after winning the championship in Miami for a 90,000 dollar tab. He also paid the 1.2 million dollar parade in Dallas so that tax payers weren't. My dad always told me that how one tips is a good indication of ones character.

My father taught me to tip as well. Arod along with Tiger is also a notoriously bad tipper.

Six.

What is this, 2009? This must be the 19th time this thread's been started on here (or other incarnations of 'Cuse fan boards) by a LeBron hater. I hear he gave a kid a wedgie in the second grade. What a horrible person. Ban him from the NBA.

And whatta lame, over-rated player: granted, we're only 3 games into the season, but this selfish waste is only averaging 32.7 points on 59 pct. shooting, 86.5 free throw shooting, 7.3 rebounds, 6 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.7 blocks.

Of course, he's a bad tipper (according to one unsubstantiated report ... as a veteran newspaper person, even I don't believe everything I read, in fact, I probably don't believe half, particularly "rumors") and made the mistake of listening to his advisers and ESPN and nike and announcing on national TV that he was "taking his talents to South Beach." That was not a smart p.r. move and I'm sure he would like to take that comment back, but this lame tipper, underachiever got $3 million for that "Decision" TV special that's been used to renovate about a dozen Boys and Girls Clubs across the country. What an awful person.

I noticed you ignored this part:

" Like the Wallace near half-court shot against Georgia?"

Um It was a 3 pointer. Not a near half court shot.

It's hard to take anyone seriously who says Lebron shoots a low percentage.

I mean, that's not even like a subjective thing. He's a career 48% shooter. His career true shooting percentage is 56.6. He was compard to Iverson, Iverson has a career true shooting% of 51.8.

I'm also ashamed I responded to such an obvious troll job.

So, you need a dad to instill character, or you're doomed to be characterless? **** you.

Maybe a daddy helps with reading comprehension. The post says "the problem with Lebron..." Nowhere therein is there made the blanket assumption that an absent father has the same affect on every person. I'm actually very sorry you were offended, but you misread/misunderstood what was written. It seems clear to me (maybe it's my SU psych degree) that any formative factor might affect one person one way and have absolutely a different effect on the next person. In this instance the statement was clearly specific to Lebron. And, not you. Unless you, as well, have character issues — aside from you language issues.

The tip comes near the end of a meal. What do you expect from LeBron?

Tebow is the Flavor of the Day.

I enjoyed Lebron's ESPN interview a few weeks ago where he announced he was done being the villian. As if all he has to do to change public perception is make an announcement. The great Lebron has spoken! He's a douche cut from the Arod cloth.

I love Lebron. He will never get it. This is what happens when you hire all ur buddies from high school as your management team/professional nut biters.

That said, he's probably given millions to charity. Who knows why he didn't tip some random night. Maybe his entorogue wasn't sweated enough or his apple juice wasn't chilled properly.

Forgive me. He began a 'move' near half-court, and pulled up for a deep three. Is that better?

For the sake of historical accuracy... Wallace's shot was ruled a 3 but his foot was on the line. So not a deep 3.

Anyone who had $ on that game remembers it. Line was Cuse -1. Toe on line, ruled a 3, game winner and cover.

True. I converted a bunch of classic Syracuse games from old VHS to DVD for my Father this Christmas, and we just [coincidentally] watched the Georgia game this morning. His toe was a bit over the line, but they ruled it a 3. Didn't matter, as even a two would have won the game.

BTW, the last 3:42 of regulation and OT was unbelievable in terms of how BOTH teams executed--it was like two heavy weight boxers landing haymaker after haymaker, as both teams made play after play. Truly an all time great game in Syracuse history.

I stand corrected. And, thank you for refreshing my (horrendous) memory. I also had a stack of VHS tapes of SU games... I used to record them for years, and then catalog them. And, then never watch them. I have issues with 'collecting.' I do the same thing with porn.

let's go to the videotape (looks to me as if he's behind the line, but, who cares...one of the greatest 'cuse games ever ... and this after john threw a perfect pass to cipolla for a great shot at the buzzer to send it into ot).

scottie pippen was also known to many of the restaurants as "No Tipping Pippen"

not to sound like a biggot-but maybe these guys grew up so poor the best restaurant they ever went to was mcdonalds and you dont have to tip-so they never learned

We like to think everyone with money will all the sudden have proper manners and would handle all situations as we would. Not sure why we expect this. My neighbor is a bad tipper too, and he is a doctor. I don't hold it against him. He's got no left hand though...so it doesn't matter.

Come on Man! Just more bogus excuses in our society where people generally won't except ownership and responsibility. I'm sure your neighbor doctor and others alike though have no trouble charging his clients a ludicrious fee for his 2 minutes of services rendered...;)
