OT: Article on SEC and Why They Dominate

Interesting indeed, with the highlight being on how the SEC (in the writer's opinion) wins championships through one specific aspect of defense, the DL. If it is to be believed, the way to beat a spread (or any pass-happy) offense is to load up on the best D-linemen in the country, who come predominantly from the south.

This is where admissions standards come into play. We have been trying to get quality DT's forever, and going back to P's late years we had a devil of a time finding guys who could qualify and play at a high level. SEC has a big advantage getting those big uglies "into school" and keeping them there.

"A lot of people call the SEC the NFL of college football"

And they pay just as well, too!

It's funny because it's true.

Biggest reason why the SEC is what they is... $$$$$$$$.

Some of it is legit, too.

And look where it's gotten them... oh wait, lots of national championships.

The point about the SEC grabbing a VA and NC school must terrify the ACC... The NCAA for competitive reasons should stop that from happening. It's already at the point where low level SEC programs will get the kids, brand name schools in other conferences want and work to get. If the SEC gets even stronger, with bigger TV contracts and more exposure... Why should any team outside of Texas, USC, OSU, etc, even bother. What are they playing for if 1 or 2 loss SEC teams are deemed better than undefeated ACC, b12, P12 teams

The SEC will raid the ACC. It's a matter of when and not if. The only question is who will it pluck out of UNC/NC St. and UVa/VT. If UNC was smart and didn't want State to surpass them in football they'd take the offer when it comes, however they are connected to Duke and the ACC so it's hard to see it happening. I'd guess it ends up being NC St. and VT.
