OT: Demarco to Eagles?

And Dallas now has a huge hole to fill. Jerry doesn't always do his best work when in panic mode.
Again, I do not think it is a huge hole to fill.

We'll see. I don't remember his back up being lights out last year. (If anyone can run back there - why didn't they spell Murray more?)

Randle averaged 6.7 yards per carry in limited action last season. I would have been in favor of giving Murray more rest. Despite being a Princeton graduate, Jason Garrett has a tendency towards old school-meathead thinking.
I'm not suggesting that there won't be some loss of production in Murray's absence, but I don't think the difference is significant enough to warrant spending big money. No matter whom the Cowboys plug in at the position, I am confident they will be a good rushing team again next season.

Curious take on Zach Ertz not panning out considering he's only entering his third nfl season and coming of a statistically identical season to Jason Whitten.
He had 58 rec and 3 tds. 15 of those catches were in 1 meaningless end of season game against the skins. Take away that game and he's at 3 or 4 catches a game, in that high powered chipper offense.

It's not just 'plugging' in someone. The Cowboys changed their offense radically this year, opting for a run-dominated attack. One of the key purposes was to protect their aging, and increasingly-brittle, QB. They can't just plug anyone in there and expect them to do what Murray did. They need to either find a workhorse of similar caliber to Murray or risk exposing Romo to more hits. And, as uninspiring as Mark Sanchez is, he's better than anything the 'Boys have to back up Romo.

Jerry Jones recognizes that the window is closing, both for Romo and for himself. That's why I think a move made out of panic is imminent.

Are the Redskins in the NFC East? Why, yes, yes they are. So Ertz torched the Redskins. While the game didn't impact the standings, that doesn't mean the game is meaningless, even if you say it is. The 'Skins have to account for Ertz. 58 catches is a good number, especially in an offense that spreads things around. Brett Celek will likely take on more of a blocking role, and Ertz' stats will likely improve. Unlike, say, Mark Witten's. Age is a great equalizer.

Don't get me wrong. It's not as if any of this is a slam-dunk for the Eagles. But I think you're not being realistic in your assessment of the quality of Ertz, or the impact he could well have this year. What, exactly, do you see in the current state of the Redskins' secondary to make you think that they will not be vulnerable to a pass-catching TE going forward?

some of the greatest statistical games are played in week 16 and 17. That's just how it is.

Demarco murray is also a season removed from a very bad leg injury.

And Tony Romo is a season removed from a serious injury. Seriously, you're just throwing bleep up on the wall now. Oh, and Tony Romo no longer has Demarco Murray.

Demarco murray ran behind a top 3 o line last year, now he goes to the Eagles with some serious questions on the o line.

Oh and BTW I'm not saying he didn't deserve those 15 receptions, but just take that game out of the equation and give him 5 receptions and hes at average numbers. plus he only had like 115 yards that game.

Birds had one of the best o-lines in the league last year. They've gotta replace Todd Herremanns, who was injured for part of the year and is 32. Peters and Johnson are one of the best OT tandems in the league. Serious questions? Questions, yes. Serious? Not hardly. I honestly don't understand why you're engaging in such hyperbole.

If you take ANYbody's best game or games out of the equation you can argue that they weren't as good as they appeared. But you can't take the games out of the equation. Unless you get to be the one who determines what is meaningful and what is not.

This is wishful thinking on your part. The Cowboys were obviously prepared to move on from Murray. They reportedly made their token $5 million/year offer and did not budge. If they wanted him, they would have made it happen.

I would be excited if Chip Kelly was my coach/gm too. I wish the Cowboys had a guy in control that was so innovative. I do think you should stop acting like the Eagles stole him away from the Cowboys. It is not the case.

Mark whiten had a cannon for an arm. Remember going to Chiefs games and him gunning down folks at the plate. :)

Touche. He helped me win a fantasy baseball championship one year. Hit 4 dingers and drove in 12 runs in one September game to clinch it for me. Bought two TV sets with my winnings. To me, there's only one Witten/Whiten, and it's Mark. One of the TVs still works.

There is no question that Murray is stud. The Eagles are now going to have a very physical runner to compliment Kelly's offense.

The gamble for Philly is that there have been only five runners in league history who have surpassed the 400-carry mark for a season. That list includes Eddie George, James Wilder, Jamal Anderson, Eric Dickerson and Larry Johnson. The problem associated with that elite company is what happened to them after their 400-carry seasons. Aside from Dickerson, every other runner in that group became significantly less productive in subsequent years.

Murray became too expense for the Cowboys to take that risk. But, they absolutely wanted him back.

True, it's a risk. The Mathews signing will take some of the load off.

yeah, and how does that work out for them??

usually uttered just once...

The Eagles better hope it works out better.

I married into an Eagles family, so I do laugh a little at the "this was Chip's plan all along". Wasn't Frank Gore the plan until he didn't want to go there?

This clearly wasn't Chip's plan. I had no idea that Murray and Bradford were college roomies and close friends. Murray called Kelly, not the other way around.

I think it was Branch Rickey who said, "Luck is the residue of design."

Only time will tell if the luck is good or bad.

ha! gore was the plan.

you mentioned 1 time about your father-in-laws phillies fandom, i never put 1&1 together...oomph.

if it ever gets good, just casually ask how it feels to be 3 lombardi's from 3rd place in the NFC East??
