OT: How 'bout them Bills!

Any win is a great win for my Bills. But a loss to Minnesota would have been acceptable regardless of injuries. It was a must win and so is next week against the Jets.

Marrone needs to can Hackett now and probably himself for going with this oline unit which is the worst in football. I'm not sure why a former o-line guy like Saint Doug has such trouble putting together even a poor oline (yes I would take poor over the crap that the Bills have today).

I said it during the week but this game was an absolute must win for the Saint Doug and his protege, Hackett. They managed to win at the last second but nothing about this game has me convinced that Hackett is an NFL-worthy OC. The Jets are going to eat the Bills O alive next week and then Saint Doug has some decisions to make in his bye week.

I'm not a Bills fan but having a lot of trouble understanding how a sh!tty Jets team is going to eat the Bills alive. Maybe you meant to write the opposite?

That last drive saved Marrones job. Hackett, once again, calls a garbage game, continuing to be the anchor of this coaching staff.

That shitty Jets team almost took down the Patriots... that shitty Jets D has one of the top dlines in football... that shitty Jets D has Sheldon Richardson who might be the best dlineman in football... that shitty Jets D has owned the Bills offense ever since Rex Ryan has been there no matter who the Bills have run out, either players or coaches. Combine those facts with the two worst guards in football, one of the worst RTs in football, and one of the worst OC's in football and a team down to it's 3rd and 4th string running backs. I stick by my statement... the Jets D is going to eat the Bills O for lunch.

Also I think the Bills run D is getting exposed a bit and the Jets have two good RBs. I am not predicting that the Bills lose but it's highly likely and regardless it's going to be an ugly ugly game. Which I guess is fine given that I haven't been able to see a Bills game since the opener (thanks NFL and directv).

But is it Marrone or Hackett calling plays? Doesn't Marrone have a lot of say?

I think Hackett needs to go.

Both defenses should run roughshot over the others offense. Buffalo has more talent on offense but Hackett tries his best to hide that fact. If Hackett stops predictably running up the middle on first and second downs and lets Orton go downfield, there's no way the Jets secondary can match up with Buffalo's WR's.

You could come up with nice stats for any team and every NFL team, no matter how terrible they are, usually have a decent game here and there against a good team. It's the NFL after all. The fact is the Jets are terrible. Just because Rexy says every season they're a playoff team doesn't make it true. They are easily one of the worst teams in the league right now.

At some point you are who you are... I've reached that point with our friend can't Hackitt. He has proven that he doesn't really have any imagination beyond run, run, pass unless the game is on the line. He is overmatched as an NFL OC and I've given up any hope that he is going to change.

Let's talk next week after the game. I've watched many many Bills games in my life... I know the Bills... The Jets D will own the Bills O next week and I think the Jets stand a pretty good chance at beating the Bills. Remember, the Vikings are terrible too and look what happened today... and that was at home.

I'm just really happy for Marrone. In the NFL he gets to coach games that play out exactly as he dreams. Just keep it close and have a chance at the end. He's in heaven, football speaking.

I'm only saying the Jets are a terrible "team". They have some great players and their defense can play really well. But as a team, they aren't very good. Really my only point.

Its a divisional game. Obviously it's going to be a tough, grind it out game. Both teams potentially have top 5 defenses. It's on the road but even with the injuries to Spiller/FJax, Buffalo has way more talent on offense than New York. The difference in the game, should Hackett decide to freakin utilize it, is that the Jets don't have the secondary to match up with Buffalo's passing attack.

not sure play calling was the issue when you have no RBs and a oline that was whiffing on every single pass play most of the game..

I think half of it is on the o-line and half is play calling. Hackett is so predictable and his vanilla play calling is half the reason we end up in obvious passing situations. Also, if you have one RB, stop running it so much. That doesnt mean run flanker screens to him and then follow it up with a 2nd and 13 handoff to the fullback.

How come Dixon and FJax can find running lanes and Spiller can't? As awful as it sounds, I think Spiller being done could be a blessing in disguise for the Bills offense. FJax being out for a few weeks hurts but lets see what Bryce Brown has. Buffalo obviously thinks Brown/Dixon is our RB tandem of the future.

Don't they have two rookies starting on the line?

So which is it, win now or build for the future?

BTW he's trying to do both and sometimes that means it's uglier than you would want.

And this is the QB's third week of full practices period.

I think Orton is capable of being an above average QB on this team if he chills out with the turnovers and gets marginally better Offensive Line play. He's basically averaging 300 yards, 2 TD's per game. If Hackett ever opens it up before late in the 3rd/4th quarter, those numbers might be even better.

The big problem with Orton is the more responsibility you place on him to "lead" offensively, that's when you will see more INT's and poor decision making. He's not Trent Dilfer but his ability is similar. He can make plays and make a lot of throws but he needs a strong running game and a competent O-Line. Over the course of the season, if he's asked to make a lot of plays for 4 quarters he's going to start failing more often than not. He can win games but there are going to be a lot of unhappy people by the way it happens.

What do you think of Boobie Dixon and Bryce Brown? I feel awful for Spiller but honestly, he's been a drive killer aside from a chunk play here and there with his negative runs. Part of me think we're better off without him because this offense needs to be in 2nd/3rd and manageable's to sustain drives (unless its the end of the game apparently). We can talk about how this offensive line isn't making any running lanes but how do FJax and Dixon find them yet Spiller can't?

If these guys can get positive yardage and not put us behind the sticks, I think it will make both Orton and Hackett look better.

I honestly can't comment on Dixon because haven't seen enough of him but I liked Brown the little bit I saw of him in Philly. I think he def has potential to at least be a pretty good RB. As far as Orton, this is going to sound stupid because a lot of QB's are like this but Orton is at his best when the running game can get positive yardage. He is a really good/accurate short and most medium throws QB. I think you saw it at the end of the game today at times. He made some great plays but there were also plays, when pressured and when facing longer yardage, you could almost see the wheels moving in his head as he was trying to figure out what to do. I think any positive RB play will be positive, especially if he can use the RB as an outlet to throw to at times.

I like Orton. He is an NFL QB. He is however probably the least adept at dealing with a collapsing pocket that I have seen. It's OK if he gets sacked - he just needs to take care of the ball in those situations. Makes me nervous.
