Feel a LOT better about the situation at OL now that we've landed this kid. Think he's going to be a terrific OT. Need to land another quality prospect to bolster the trenches, but landing this kid is big.

What I like:

Camp offer
Plays multiple positions on the line
Service academy offers so he’s a smart kid
Good measurables

What I don’t like
Wasn’t offered by BC, as an OL from MA since BC is known for OL

However, there once was a kid named Zach Chibane out of NJ that monkey face said wasn’t a P5 prospect that was a solid multi year starter for us so the home state not offering Isn’t necessarily the be all and end all. But I would have liked to have seen that.

Boston College hates recruiting public school kids from the state. ISL, Catholic Conference. If you’re a public kid, you’re blue chip of the blue chips coming out of the state. Not worried. Springfield Central. Proven winner. He’s a thoroughbred.

He had a Michigan offer and committed to us in March. And he wasn’t an OL which is what BC is known for. But BC missed on the Melifonwu brothers so like us, they clearly do miss on talented kids from MA that they don’t offer. I just would have felt better with him being an OL had BC offered.

I like camp offers, I trust the staffs knack for finding P5 measurable players and turning them into productive players over their careers. Just like someone mentioned here, Matthew Bergeron, is very similar in regards to not a ton of offers, but the staff knew what they saw in person…. I’m all for this commit

I wish Mike and all the writers would get more in depth on the recruiting conversation with prospects/commits. We literally get zero from the staff (because they can’t comment), so would be cool to know what other schools were really pursuing him hard at the time of commitment, were interested but waiting to offer etc. We can all see offers on a sheet but half the time you don’t know if those are recent, commitable, etc.
