OT: John Harbaugh, Sean Payton, Doug Marrone, others on Michigan's radar

Marrone hates the BS that comes with being a college coach, yet he's going to take a job where it's much worse? He's made it very clear that the NFL is where he wants to be.

These Michigan people need to temper their expectations big time.

LOL Payton and Garrett? Michigan is completely delusional.

I love the comments like that about Michigan wben you have idiots in the media throwing out any random crap that they hope sticks to a wall.

Trust me, Michigan is not delusional, and Harbaugh is Plans A thru .

I thought I read on this board over and over again that any pro job is better than any college job?

Marrone isn't going back to coach in college. The only guy who hates recruiting more than him is his WR coach in Buffalo. If Coughlin doesn't retire for a couple of more years, I can easily see Doug replacing him. And then getting eaten alive by the NY media

Gotta think Marrone would be on the Giants short list to follow Coughlin.

Why?

Why?
I was moreso agreeing with djorange's comment in the post before mine.

I think that Marrone, a NYC kid, watching the Giants growing up, would love to coach them. It appears he loves the NFL game over the college game and Buffalo is a much smaller stage. I also think the Giants would do well with Marrone at the helm. Just my opinion.

The Saint's family would probably prefer the Titans.

I like Marrone more than most and I think him as HC of the Giants would be a horrible idea because I think he'd struggle in that media market.

anyone have any kickstarter experience? i'll gladly make a donation to michigan if they'll hire him

Gotcha.

I take no pleasure in saying this, but the Giants job is among the best in the league for a host of reasons. Marrone can stand in line with hundreds of others who'd love to coach there.

Marrone needs to start seeing some substantial success, starting next year. Otherwise he'll be out in Buffalo. And I'm not sure the NYG are going to be all that interested in him if he doesn't.

I can't imagine Martine surviving the NYC media.

That made me throw up in my mouth a little

Giant fan here. I like BM as future head coach candidate (after least another year under Tom Coughlin)

The Offense has gotten better as the season has gone on. Very excited for next year Eli still has more than enough left in the tank, Jennings/Williams backfield. Receiving options The wonderful amazing Odelle Beckham, Cruz coming back healthy, and Ruben Randle and have Donnell who emerged as tight end.

Just have to shore up the O-Line.

Personally, I do not want someone named as HC who has only 2 years of coordinator experience (Coughlin is back next year, IMO) to be my HC. Just because the offense has 'gotten better as the season has gone on' does not make someone Giants HC material. Will he ever be? Who knows? He may be the second coming of Vince Lombardi, but he is not being named HC after 2 years of coordinator experience.

As you say, I am very excited about next year - at least on offense. Defense? :noidea:

How long a rope does Jimmy have Getting that kind of dough ? 1 year , 2 maybe. Good litmus test for people who think spending money on a big name buys you a winner.

He will be back in the NFL in 2 years. This will be a short stay. He just needed to get out of SF. He is an NFL coach and this is a mini-vacation for him.
