The more important question is... how does this guy keeping get shows on tv? He's bad enough that even SNL did a skit making fun of him. They don't usually make fun of their own.

Olberman basically created the SportsCenter anchor persona.

He is very sharp, very funny and very knowledgeable.

He's biting and probably a prima dona, but the industry recognizes his sheer talent.

This feud is great!!! KO is gonna come off looking bad. I mean when he said ESPN Radio NY is a superior station to WFAN he clearly has no problem lying with a straight face. It's like saying Temple has a superior football program to Alabama. Not a comparison and the ratings back it up. This feud will be great within a week or so. It was an OK feud when it was B&C vs KO...when Francesa got brought into this it just became EPIC!!

Craig Kilborne I give credit too for that whole "SportsCenter persona"...he actually went on the air every night, said screw the highlights, worked his "gimmick" and perfected his "character" and turned it into a late night talk show which made him a boatload of money. Ever since him everyone has tried to use SportsCenter as a spring board to something bigger. Like Olberman!!

I think most agree that Olbermann and Patrick made SportsCenter what it has become.

They were groundbreakers.

Kenny Mayne was funny and deadpan, but he didn't change the trajectory of the program - he didn't create a new TV sports form.

Where is Kenny these days?

He is clearly an eccentric and obviously very difficult to work with - so far nobody has been able to do so.

But, as you say, he is an amazing writer and a very good performer.
