Great story ... have heard a lot about this kid, never knew much about him. I'm a fan. And this makes me like LeBron James even more, it that's possible...and I'm thrilled that one of my favorite 'Cuse players of recent years, Dion, suddenly finds himself in a great, potentially career-changing situation. LeBron likes him, a lot. http://tinyurl.com/kz8to8v

thats a nice story but for me its just a part of the pr spin machine to boost up lebron's icon status, which makes everyone money.

What great didn't do that?

If you're sick of the greatest player to play the game I don't think basketball is for you.

He is one of only two sports guys to ever become a billionaire. BTW, those floppy Haines tags were a relic reminiscent of summer camps. Good riddance.

Advertises for Hanes because he's lost everything but his shorts too many times at the casinos.

Which of course does not impact the fact he is considered the greatest ever, and one of the pretty much consensus top 5 athletes of all time.

You've got a good eye for a good article, as usual.

Several points:

1. Rich Paul would be successful with or without LeBron. Doing it WITH LeBron guarantees a level of enormity.

2. Very interesting technique by the author, Joe Drape. By building on the concept that Paul plays an important role in LeBron's career, the story cleverly floats the idea that Paul bears some substantial responsibility for the original "I'm going to Miami" announcement without coming close to saying so.

3. Most importantly, the story underscores the importance of having your dad around. But no mention whatsoever of Rich Paul's mom. How come, I wonder?

It mentions somewhere in the story how he and Lebron were both raised by single parents. It is interesting that they don't mention where she is or what happened to her, but given the nature of the article one could assume that it would leave a negative taste in an otherwise feel good story.

It appears, from this Chris Broussard article, that Rich Paul lost his mother to drugs. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/8...n-james-close-friends-now-agent-espn-magazine
