Happy for the young man and his family.
Is giving a walk-on a scholarship that unusual? I mean JB has given a number of 'ships to walk-ons and no one has really made that big a deal of it. I always thought it was a great gesture but I guess I'm surprised it's a public video. Does it mean that NW never gave walk-on scholarships previously? Again just curious .
I love Chris Collins. If I were not such a techno idiot, I'd post a funny picture here... of Chris Collins rescuing me during a terrifying (to me) "bobsled" run down from the Great Wall of China during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Long stupid story... but to get off the Great Wall, you had to take this bobsled run, or maybe it was a luge run (without snow), a scary, curvy slide thing. I was seriously terrified .. especially after the two guys in line behind me started talking about how they loved running people off the slide. Chris stepped in... and got in line behind me.. and literally protected me from those two idiots. My friend Barbara at the bottom of the run ... took a picture of the whole thing. I just posted the pic on Facebook, just because it brings back such a funny memory.
Bobsled run is on my bucket list!!
Nice story and makes the kid feel valued, but it's probably a push from a financial standpoint.
Lake Placid has them about 3.5 hours from Syracuse.

I remember that, one time I took a hard turn and it took my cart off the track. Those things were dangerous from what i remember. This "bobsled" thingy sounds like the old Alpine Slide I used to ride as a kid over at Song Mountain. It was a concrete, mini bobsled-like track (no high banks) that wound it's way down the mountain. You sat in these one-man carts that had handles and pull brakes on the sides. The steering was pretty much done by the track. The ride was all about speed. I had a similar idiot incident where these two guys (both seemed a bit drunk) kept talking about going down without braking. Of course one got in front of me and the other got behind me. At the bottom the first guy slammed into the people in front of him. I saw that and knew what was coming from behind me. Once I got to full stop I turned to see where the other guy was, and he was about 100 yards behind me coming in full speed. I wanted no part of that collision and jumped out of my car just before he hit. He drove my cart right into the back of his friend and put him out of commission. Hope he had a nice ride home or to the hospital.
