OT: Olberman slams Penn State

I am usually not a an Obermann fan, but he hit the nail on the head. He was spot on, what a disgrace. Too bad more people don't speak out against the NCAA and call them what the are, a travesty of an organization. Thanks for sharing cuseguy.

Apparently, the 111 wins were never vacated. They merely went on a vacation. Now they're back home.

Their return illuminates other vacancies, like the moral standing of Penn State and the NCAA. (All is forgiven???)

Penn State will never rid itself of the pall and stench of Sandusky and the cover up. It will always cast a shadow no matter how brightly their athletics might shine in the future. Cheer as they might, PSU fans will always have a vacancy in the pit of the stomach.

Reading some of the comments on the espn.com story - paraphrasing "Had nothing to with the football program. Sandusky wasn't on the staff at the time."

Even more egregious that someone who had no business being there was allowed to use PSU football facilities to commit such atrocities. Thinking the mascot shout be changed from a Nittany Lion (whatever tf that is anyway) to an Ostrich.

My guess is weeks. PSU is a cult of shame.

The whole town has been busy every night making a new one. Should be up on Sunday, after church services thanking god for looking out for the PSU nation and their angel... JoePa.

Sick bunch of scumbags that fan base is.

Horrible situation with a horrific conclusion

Maybe we can send Sandusky over to Olbermann's house tonight. ;)

Odds on how long before the statue is back in place?
Three possibilities:
  1. Before season opener
  2. Before homecoming game
  3. Before biggest home game (Ohio State if it's there this season)

I never understood how pretending Penn State didn't win games they won helped Sandusky's victims.

It doesnt fix it but it did show a degree of understanding and support of the victims.

Sometimes the best thing we can do for the victims is to make sure it won't happen again. Knocking the culture down by removing wins was a way of establishing the proper order of things (ie Child abuse is more important than a game).

Penn State doesn't want their culture changed. This was a sickening, egregious case, but on a lesser level no P5 school wants their football culture changed either. We all feed this beast.

Agree. The key is that there is a line that cannot be crossed - and they did. That they got off the hook so easily is disheartening. If the beast can't be tamed - maybe it needed to be executed?

Cant wait till the NCAA throws the book at us and vacates wins. That'll be fun.

If one Penn State fan shows his face here...

Someone will. I heard from some PSU friends immediately after Schwarz's story first broke.
