this is felix. i found him as just a wee pup curled up under a cushion crying and injured in my pool house 15 yrs ago. he'd apparently been attacked and injured by some local dogs . now he loves dog. and cats. and squirrels...

I’m just going to put this here because I know you’re all pet lovers, and it should be said.

As I said above, we lost our dog a few months back. We knew the time was coming. He had lost his hearing and a good share of his eyesight. But he was an incredibly resilient dog and somehow managed. I had to fish him out of the pool a couple times when he ventured too close, and in the final days he had to be carried anywhere he needed to go.

It took 13.5 years, but he had become my dog. When we first got him, it was because a family member couldn’t keep him. I would not have picked him as my dog. He was barely 2, but he had been raised by someone else. There was friction between the other family member and us, and taking the dog in became the event that bridged the gap and brought us back together. Everything is good now, but it was taking that little dog in that made it possible.

The dog was smart, but stubborn and he and I did not see eye to eye. It took a couple of years before he and I came to terms with each other. But eventually he accepted me and I him.

It broke my heart to sit with him in his last moments. He trusted me completely.

Pets are family. But in this case he was a pet who helped bring a family together.

Happy Birthday to three high class divas: Mariah Carey, Fergie and our Mini Aussiedoodle Violet. I told Violet that this was Japanese Wagyu Beef but it’s actually a $5 cube steak from Target.

I lost that battle years ago, about two weeks after we got our dogs. Now I have a sixty pound mutt that sleeps on the back cushions of our couch, like a giant cat.

This is Zoey. Zoey wants dinner! When I get home and try to relax in my recliner for a few minutes, she makes sure that I don’t forget that it is time to feed her. She climbs on my chair and stares at me until I feed her. No peace til she is fed!

Meet “Bumble!” Our newest addition to the family, yapping it up with her big sister Beasley! We almost lost Beasley to cancer two months ago, but she is all clear now!

So sorry to hear this. I got a dog (a bulldog/beagle mix, named...Otto ) about a month and a half ago, and until then, I never fully understood the bond between a family and their dog.

We had a scare with Otto last week, but the tumors were benign, and big O has recovered well from the procedure. He’s a tough dude, and he turns 7 tomorrow.

The Pitty is an angel and the Frenchie is an absolute menace, but it's ok because she's a rare beauty. They typically sleep in our bed, but we had to make them sleep on the couch last night because we brought home our first child yesterday. They are offended.
