It is a shame. My understanding is that Alexander was not capable of playing at the fast pace Syracuse prides itself on playing. I am sad this didn’t work out but I would not be surprised to see us really play fast all game long for the first time this season. Even if Matt makes some mistakes and struggles, this is probably going to be for the best.

Kind of limits options for any quick fix talent infusions from grad transfers or JuCos. Kids obviously knew what to expect and put in the work to properly condition himself. I fear that may be the exception.

All physicality and gotta keep your weight on and lift a lot.

Probably you are right.
I don’t like quIting. Those are your teammates. I am just saying football is barbaric crazy sport and I am not going to rip the kid anymore than that.
He sucked. He got benched and quit.
I wish him well in his future endeavors.

I suspect that most grad transfers are doing so more for themselves than the new team. In some instances it is a chance to thrive against good competition and perhaps get a shot at the next level. For others it is the opportunity to play for the last time. Rarely, is it a sudden dedication and commitment to the new team.

it is too bad for both the Orange and Ryan that Syracuse did not work out for him. I wish him the best in the future.

Well he wouldn't be taking the hits being there for his team on the sideline in case they need him

Line play in the ACC is at a very high level with many players getting chances in the NFL. There just aren't all that many lineman recruits that can play at that level available and the Orange are not getting them. So, the staff is trying to come up with some guys that could help out, but in no way are many of these guys a sure thing. But at least he and ther staff tried.

Servais unfortunately has not been serviceable

I think we all held him in higher esteem than he deserved

I think even at T with his drastic weight cut he still would have been struggling. Better than our current options, but not much.

It’s probably going to get worse if that’s possible. But he wasn’t going to be back next year anyway so I don’t care. Ended up being a waste, but I guess you don’t know if you don’t try.

Based on the play of the Syracuse University Football Teams Offensive Line this season, a change became necessary. Most of us would have hoped it would have occurred earlier, but that's not up to us. Alexander struggled the most all season long and is done after this year so he is the most logical choice to be replaced. Hopefully the false starts will be reduced dramatically (as in none). Matthew Bergeron is one big young man. I have watched him closely in his limited action this year and I have really been impressed by how nimble he is. He moves very well for a big kid. Bergeron reminds me of the type of kid we all grew up with or played with who was huge, but didn't realize himself how big he is so he did all the same things the smaller guys did and did them just as well. I wish the young man all the luck in the world and hope he is able to make a positive difference for his team. Go Orange!!!!!!!

reminds me of geno thorpe. grad transfer from a smaller school that struggled against acc competition. feel bad for those guys for blowing their last year of eligibility biting off more than they can chew

thorpe actually won one game for us.
