OT - Sorry! Cosmo's! Why!!!???

Just read a DO story about the end of Cosmo's on Marshall Street.

I can't believe it's really gone.

Somebody should immediately take over the lease, hire old managers and cooks and re-open place!!

Not only the best pizza in CNY, but maybe on the east coast!

Get it done!

Re-open Cosmo's!!!

Thank you.

I agree with that it was greasy, but Cosmos was an institution in my household. The owners were my neighbors, and my dad worked there when he attended SU. Not my favorite pizza, but a game day experience.

Wasn't this announced quite awhile back? With regards to Pavone's, I was never a fan. Growing up, I ate at the one in Shoppingtown back in the 80's before it became a ghost town.

Coming from NJ, I always found CNY pizza missing something. It was ok, just different and certainly not East Coast best. However places like this hold a great deal of nostalgia for us as Alums and it is sad to see them go.

and don't forget Zorba's. Any owner who will give you a shot of Ouzo with your slice is a friend indeed. Multiple frat brothers delivered for him. Good times...

I liked Cosmo's pizza. It was good and cheap too. Sorry it is gone. Every year the campus and surrounding area gets a little less like it was when I was a student. It would be nice if someone bought it and opened it with the same name. Just my opinion but I don't think there is a really good pizza place anywhere on campus and I don't think this has ever been the case . If someone ever opens a good pizza shop up there, they can make a lot of money.

Twin Trees needs to put a shop up there. Maybe just pizza and wings.

Hopefully it will turn into something cool, like a Coffee Bean, or a Baby Gap.

i don't like that an icon on the hill is going out of business i did not care for them or patronize them, as i am a twin trees 1 fan.

I will say that Cosmo's was a great breakfast joint. There weren't many good places for a nice greasy hangover curing breakfast on the hill, and Cosmo's fit that to a T.

Me and some buddies stopped in for a breakfast the day of Clemson game last year (hungover i might add). I don't know if its becuase I am older and my tastes have changed, but Cosmos was a dump. Everything was dirty, it was just a dump. Its not surprising to see that it closed.

This place went out of business for a reason. Hopefully someone who knows how to run a pizza shop takes it over and provides a much better product!

I was never a huge fan, but enjoyed it as a staple of Marshall St.

Hope someone can keep it going. If not, hope another mom and pop can go in there versus another chain.

If Cosmo's would have sold slices outside or inside without having to sit down during big games they would still be open. Refused to adapt. Varsity pizza is a cool experience but horrible pizza with their cardboard crust. A shame

Quite a few of the places I went to aren't there anymore. The times they are a changin'

And here I thought this was going to be another <fill in the blank> soccer thread. ;)

Yes!!!

I would guess that the cost of a lease on Marshall is not cheap. Space there probably demands a premium?

Cosmos is too gritty for today's crop of spoon-fed infants turned college students. Sad state of affairs.

I recall an insane breakfast scramble that cured any hangover when smothered with red hot and chased with a coke and Excedrin. I don't recall what the pizza tasted light as we were never there before midnight.

Marshall street is turning into one of these pseudo downtown strips you find in 2nd rate suburbs that try to pretend they are first rate. Soon they'll have a Panera breads or something. terrible trend.

The Excedrin did all the work.

It was, by far, the greasiest pizza on the planet. This was its virtue. We could have based our energy policy off the oil sitting atop a Cosmos pizza.

Also, fantastic wings.

Agreed. Varsity and cosmos were both terrible and overrated. Sorry but you can be an orange Homer all you want but varsity and cosmos have terrible pizza.

I loved the Varsity

My wife can remember when slices at Varsity were fiftycent., back in the day. To this day, my boys insist at a stop at Varsity before the game. They love it!

Any place that spins the piazza dough in the window gets triple bonus points in my book. My buddy used to do it. Last time I was in the Cuse, I made a point to stop by and say hi to George. Adios George, you had a great run.

Oh yeah, it was dirty. Even when I was a student and lived in filth I thought it was a dirty, greasy hole in the wall. But it had charm, I would love to have it in my community.
