OT - World Cup Draw

Who are the 2 possible teams we could get in the quarters if we advance? Someone said that part of landing in our group was positive at least

The schedule actually favors us greatly. If we beat Ghana in the first game, and Germany beats Portugal, we control our destiny. Two draws would put us through (assuming Germany beats Ghana). Beat Portugal and the Germany game would be for the group.

The only thing that scares me against Portugal is our worst position having to defend Ronaldo. But Portugal sounds much scarier on paper than they are in real life.

Ghana lost to Egypt, Japan and Mali this past year so ... They're no Germany.

Germany, on the other hand, IS Germany. Maybe we could dial up a draw in that game. If we won then anything after that would be gravy.

He's not a player, he just shoots a lot.

One thing is for sure, have to get three points in opener against the proverbial thorn in our side ( Ghana ) If we dont cancel your second round hotel reservations.

One other thing, US usually plays better when their given no chance as you could here our friends (minus Lalas ) on ESPN have already killed us off. I think we will play well minus the burden of expectation. Last WC with the expectation we would advance we did not play all that well.

there's lots of whining about it but the travel will be to our advantage. any crazy variables like that even up the playing field. as the underdog, this is good...and our training/experience lends itself to different geography types much better than anyone else in our group. Not easy by any stretch, but avoiding any south american teams is HUGE.

1.) I like England to surprise. Italy usually starts slow, getting better as it goes along. I could see a draw there. England will do better playing outside of Europe and away from the intense media spotlight. Too bad they aren't training in the Amazon. It would have been perfect. They will have lower expectations this time around, which also works to their advantage since expectations are usually sky high for them (a la the "EASY" bracket in 2012). Pretty sure they would see Spain or Brazil in the quarters depending on how it plays out. That's probably the end of the road but I can see 3-0-1 before they get to that point.

2.) US bracket isn't as tough as it seems, as other said, and Portugal is a one man band. There's no way the US will take Ghana lightly. It's an elimination game. I don't like the Germany game. They know all JK's tricks.

3.) For filling out brackets,, expect the South American teams to outperform. I think France will fall flat even with the easy bracket and South Korea always puts on a nice show.

Can't wait.

I agree . I dont think the European teams will flourish in Brazil.

I'd never count out Argentina. Aguero has played out of his mind the second half of 2013, if he can complement Messi as well as he ought to, they'll be a formidable side. South American squads as a whole should show well.

Even if the US do scrape out of the group, they'll face Belgium, who just pooped on them
. Don't think if they get out of group be considered scraping plus they prob have confidence cause we got results against Ghana Portugal and or Germany

No one better to draw up a gameplan against Germany than a coach who was once the German wunderkind. ;)

Loved watching Klinsman play always in the right place at the right time, and of course a clinical finisher
