playing to win is not a bad thing.. playing for FG in that spot is not a bad thing.. A good throw and he was open the DL just got up for the throw at the wrong time.

No way he pulled back. If he did, he would have told Dino and they would have still kicked it if he felt he could make it.

Personally, I really liked the call (and the fact that DB didn't punt). At that moment in time, I can't argue with trying to beat Clemson at Clemson by going for it in that situation.

Three things:
1. I have no problem whatsoever being aggressive and taking the fight to Clemson. Glad Dino went for it; bummed that we didn’t make it but support the call.
2. Pretty sure Szymt was kicking into the wind so 46 yards was no gimme. Most of Dennenburg’s kickoffs go well into the end zone but his kicks were noticeably shorter kicking in that direction due to wind.
3. Dennenburg has a much stronger leg than Szymt; can’t speak to his accuracy though. I’ve seen Dennenburg make 60 yard FGs in warmups. Szymt doesn’t even try from that distance because it is outside of his range. My guess is that if we need to make a long FG then Dennenburg will get the nod.

The play clock ran out. Ref threw the flag. But Dino called TO just prior. He talked to Smzyt and then offense went back out.

At 18 seconds on the play clock, I said that we were going to have the snap be close.

That whole process was a mess. So not only was Smzyt and crew having to rush to get set, then we call a TO. That’s a tough kick, but if done properly, I think he makes it.

Bouncing the throw off a defenders shoulder pads isn’t great after the TO.

Yeah play clock was at zero…ref even threw flag and picked it up because of the timeout. Also correct that whistle blew well before kick so pulled up and timing was off.

Obviously, it wasn't helpful in hindsight, but in the moment, I loved the decision to go for it on 4th down. It just didn't work out.
