our non conference resume is gonna STINK

If we win tonight you will see a return of National Champs talk from some of the crowd, and the other half will say "big deal, Wisc is 5-3" this win doesn't mean a thing.

If we lose tonight, there will be further calls for coaching changes, talk of going 2-13 in ACC play, etc. It will get horrifically ugly.

All of those reactions would be grossly overboard. If we lose and look similar to Saturday - is that really a huge surprise? The team has had what, 1 practice since Saturday?

Beating Wisconsin in Madison is a quality win - absolutely unquestioned. I don't care if they are 3-5. They are difficult to beat there and they have a quality team.

Lets just see how it plays out. But whatever the outcome is, please lets try not over react.

Exactly, great post Houston! I see people on here talking bubble and how SC isn't a good team (they are). The season is long, and no one around here saw us making the final four last year after a bad regular season. I would rather play well down the stretch than go 25-0 and fizzle out. This team will get better the more they play together.

Don't wish to prolong this, but no one's talking bubble. Not a single poster. And repeating the opinion that South Carolina's a good team doesn't make it a fact any more than it would if I repeated that they're a bad team (which I'm not doing).

Someone should use this thread as an example of a straw man.

"We better not end up on the bubble." The point is why even bring it up after 1 loss? To even type the word "bubble" at this point in the season is simply asinine. As far as the South Carolina point, the proof is in the pudding both this year and last year. There is data to point to that indicates they are a good team. I will leave it at that.

im only bringing up bubble because afer wisconsin we have ZERO opporunity for a good non conference win. uconn on a neutral court? st johns and gtown at home? those will be nothing wins.

im not saying we're gonna be on the bubble. im not saying i think we're gonna be on the bubble. im simply saying IF IF IF IF IF we are on the bubble, and we dont beat wisconsin, our non conference resume could potentially kill us, just like 2007. tonite is our last chance for a resume building non conference win.

obviously if we lose tonite and go 16-2 in the acc it aint gonna matter. but if we lose tonite and go 10-8 in the acc it certainly might.

if we dont beat wisconsin. we better not be on the bubble. last year beating uconn and a&m in atlantis basically got us in the tourny, this year we'll have nothing.

SU will have to do better in conference play to make up for that

citing a ken pom ranking at this stage in the season is equally baseless as the bubble talk.

Wisconsin is the messiah to KenPom, so beating them might vault SU to #1

Guess we better win tonight ;). I understand your point, but there is no way we are a bubble team this year. If it comes down to it, I guess the non-conf would matter, which makes your point valid. If we are on the bubble with this squad, I may never be able to read this board again lol.

Non conference may matter more for where we are seeded in the tourney however.
