Class of 2025 P Mateja Pavlovich (PA) COMMITTED PWO

Maybe it’s 85 with full scholarships and the remaining 20 are partial scholarships. In the future I could see more full scholarships than the 85 to keep up with other programs.
Every dollar in scholarships over 85 will decriment the $20.5MM revenue sharing pot (up to $2,5MM). Based on John;s comments it seemed clear that 85.00 was the agreen to limit. But again, looking at the current roster plus summer assitions they are well over that number.

For reference I believe the SEC as a conference has agreed to stay at 85 for exactly that reason.

This is all conjecture but I suspect he’s building for the three years after this and margin for flips in the 26 class.

Bringing in a bunch of guys with size on the lines, speed outside the hashes. If there is a de facto salary cap, it will look like a mass exodus, but more like post season cuts.

I have always wanted to play college football since I was in 6th grade. I have been dedicated to my craft since then. I always try to out work myself on the field and in the classroom. I live on a farm and know what hard work is and never shy away from hard work on any platform.

In terms of the NCAA it doesn't matter if he is a walk on or not. There is no scholarship limit any more. The only limit is the roster limit of 105 and walk ons count against that number.
Wildhack did say that he and Fran agreed to stay at 85 scholarships but based on current roster that does not seem likely.
Football used to be a head count sport, meaning a max of 85 players were able to be on scholarship. Theoretically, schools could have given all 85 partial scholarships, but only 85 athletes could receive athletic aid.

Now, with roster limits in place and no head count rules, theoretically you could give partial scholarships to a number of players - especially high academic kids who could qualify for academic aid - and spread your athletic aid across more students.

This is as long as the University allows it -- if you gave all of the kids who warranted academic aid and filled them up to full scholarship with athletic aid, you probably could get to 105 full rides without adding any additional $ from an athletic aid perspective. A lot of accounting questions in terms of how aid is counted, but this might be a way to maneuver things and gain an edge without losing any $ to give real money to athletes through revenue sharing.

Agreed that you could theoretically give some players partial scholarships and stay at 85 even without exceeding the 85 scholarship target. Have to assume that returnoing scholarship players stay on full rides and all recruited freshmen also get full scholarships, but maybe there are other ways ro cover their cost of attendance. It gets tricky in that any scholarships over 85 will decrement the $20.5MM revenue sharing cap up to $2.5MM so I'm not sure how the NCAA would view that.

Yeah - accounting will have a lot to do with evaluation, but academic aid has never counted against equivalency athletic scholarships.

I’m in favor of not giving players any scholarships. Just give them a share of the gate. If they win, attendance will soar and they make more coin. If they play poorly, well….
