At least they can look forward to CBB... errrr, never mind. The league is horrendous these days.

Those watching the game, please note the play of Utah safety Marquise Blair. He was verbaled to Syracuse but had to go to JUCO when he didn’t qualify. He wears #13. I think he verbaled to Shafer. Dino tried to get him when he graduated from JUCO but it didn’t happen.
What a shame.
so I’d save my money for the playoff games.
But Oklahoma and Ohio State are still fighting for the playoff and have a good shot at being on the outside looking in if they lose, so those games are still significant. Just because the underdog can't get themselves in doesn't mean it's meaningless to them. I'm sure all of the underdogs in the games you mentioned would love to knock off the favorite. It's not really any different than when we won the Big East basketball tournament in '92 when we had a post season ban. Players want to win. It's not only about the fans.Pitt, Texas, and Northwestern can’t play themselves into a playoff. If I’m a fan of one of those teams, I’m saving my money for a bowl trip if I really want to see another game live.
Alabama can’t play themselves out of the playoff, so I’d save my money for the playoff games.
“Relevant” would require it matters to both teams, which applies to exactly no conference championship game this year.
This is slightly off topic, but I feel it needs to be corrected: we weren't banned from postseason play in 1992, that was the year we lost to UMass in the 2nd round. 1993 was the banned year and we got spanked by SHU in the Big East finals. I remember Terry Dehere hitting 3s from Brooklyn in the second half. But Oklahoma and Ohio State are still fighting for the playoff and have a good shot at being on the outside looking in if they lose, so those games are still significant. I’m sure Cal and Stanford will meet in a ton of championship games, leading to huge Bay Area crowds.Everyone on earth bet the under. A lot of money was made.
That crowd is why the Pac 12 originally played at one of the team's stadiums. I don't know why they don't move it to Saturday. Playing at 5 pm on a Friday, local time, in a stadium that's only convenient for two of your 12 schools, isn't going to work most years.
Actually, in your original statement that eric15 responded to you said these games were meaningless to the playoff. He asked why you thought that and that was essentially what I was responding to also. That’s great...but if I’m a fan of Northwestern I’m still sitting on my couch hoping for an upset - not attending this game. Which is what impacts attendance, which is what we are talking about.
That the Northwestern players want to win has absolutely no impact on attendance - so it’s totally irrelevant to the discussion.
