Bees are they dropping down to 1-AA?
Make it 26. Another kid quit the team today but will stay in school to finish his senior year.
Many aren't because they don't have to sit a year.

Instead of the death penalty, it is death by a thousand cuts.Since their scandel broke in November.

I should have been more clear. Is Penn St dropping down to 1-aa. 85 minus 26 equals 59. The 1-aa scholly limit is 62. That program has been gutted. Many aren't because they don't have to sit a year.

Top 25 what? Not in football! They are screwed for a very long time!Duke has no football history, Penn St does. If the penalty remains the same 8 years from now they'll be top 25.
Don't underestimate the state pride that PSU invokes. As soon as the penalties are over they'll rise again.Top 25 what? Not in football! They are screwed for a very long time!
I agree...they'll be back waaaaaaaaaay much sooner than a private school like SMU. I think they'll be back in the Top 25 around 2019-20. I can see them however losing 20% of their season ticket base as the penalties wear on...I think crowds will drop by 30-35% as most continue to buy season tickets but don't make all the games. We have people driving in from Harrisburg, NEPA, Philly, NJ, Pittsburgh (as well as locally) to see them play. Some will start to bail once reality sets in but most will stay and ride it out (this is a state pride and cultrue thing to PSU fans). It might not be as much fun to spend 1000's of dollars and lost weekends to see your team go 3-9 to 5-7. I expect to see crowds in the 75-80k range by 2014. LOL don't we wish we had a crappy crowd like that.Don't underestimate the state pride that PSU invokes. As soon as the penalties are over they'll rise again.
There is another area that I see on a daily basis checking out articles, Penn State is losing every battle for recruits who had them in their top 3, 5 or 7. Like someone else said, "Death by a 1000 cuts."Make it 26. Another kid quit the team today but will stay in school to finish his senior year.

Precisely...and that's what has to change. Culture or Cult??? One in the same based on their reactions. There is a lot of Penn State pride in Pa. If they can keep Pa kids home, they will have a great foundation to build on. I think the next two or three recruiting classes will suffer, but after that they will improve. In Pennsylvania, Penn State football is huge and unlike in New York, most kids grow up wanting to play at Penn State. It is a culture and it will not go away.
