Penalty Hell....

You conceded this:

non call of the Roughing on GS and the PI were a small factor. If you flip those two, it’s poss we win.

Interesting that you modified factor to "small factor"

Not really. If we listed the factors of why we lost, it would be small

It’s more interesting to me you guys want to sound like the crybaby Purdue fans. We got plenty of good calls this year to be 6-0. No one said boo about them. Now when we lose, it’s the refs.

That was clearly pass interference. I mean he batted the ball away before the reciever could catch it! How is the ref supposed to allow that?

You can call names, but I do think the refs were a factor today, just like the coaching, play-calling and poor execution. I don't know why it is that some feel that only the latter three are subject to criticism and examination.

Did you feel the refs were a factor in our Purdue win and did you post about it then?

I did, but I was at a party watching the game so I wasn't posting during the game.

I also think we were due for calls in our favor...of course, it wasn't against a southern ACC team.

I do wonder what a football fan with absolutely zero rooting interest in the game would have thought about the officiating? Would they have thought that the calls/non-calls benefited one team more than another?

Anecdotal, but what the hey. It's a beautiful 87-degree day here in SW Texas so I went to the park and watched on my laptop. About 10 minutes in a guy from over by Dallas who's a Longhorn fan, and about halfway through the second quarter, a guy who's a Georgia fan came over. They both were visitors who had no signal and wanted to watch some CFB. They both thought the game was fixed by the end of it. Had similar comments about the same calls being discussed in this thread.

Interesting...appreciate your input!

It was dumb, and unnecessary. I just didn't think the QB was out of bounds yet, so was curious if college has a rule on that as he was clearly going out.
Or he may have already been out of bounds. Idk.
Live, I didn’t think he stepped OOB when the hit arrived. On replay, his foot hit literally a millisecond before the hit was delivered. It was a late hit.

But Clemson out of the CFP is a loss to the NCAA
This Clemson is an extension of last year's bad team. Escaped from NC State, Wake and Syracuse. They will be embarrassed by other conference team once they are in the playoff.

As a basketball fan, and NFL fan, feel free to disregard but I thought the one on them was obvious, but not the one on us.

Schraeder had already gotten rid of the ball. Was at least 2 steps out of bounds. I could live with them not calling it, but seemed kinda obvious.

Clemson QB was still dancing for extra yards on the sideline, in my view had no foot out of bounds yet, and no whistle had blown - so, seems like open season still. Like, he hadn't given himself up even, he was trying to get a foot down whether he did or not seems almost irrelevant. But maybe QB protection rules????

Schraeder was way out of bounds before the throttling.
You are correct.

I have no idea what a lot of these other guys are seeing on that one, but some are dug in lol.

A northern ACC school will never, never get a 50-50 call late in a game that matters against UNC, NC State or Clemson.
You can add all of the other ACC schools South of the Mason-Dixon line to that list.

I’ll fully admit we got the benefit of calls in our favor to beat Purdue.

We’re an underdog team that would need a lot of those breaks to have a dream Cinderella season. Those breaks/call advantages weren’t with us today and the Cinderella season, while still potentially being a great season, largely ended today. We have zero chance of making the ACC championship game, which means we have zero chance of making the CFP.

Our best bet is one of the top tier bowls (Orange). While that’s still great, it’s not the CFP

Totally...The loss sucks and it would have been fantastic if we got the calls.
