That's a good start with those 3. Maryland, Illinois, Nebraska, Northwestern, Arizona, Colorado, and Washington.Who's on your list of "preferred" P5 teams?
Indiana?
Kansas?
Vandy?
I didn’t see the specific dates mentioned here, but I found these elsewhere:
- 4 Sep 2027 at PSU
- 9 Sep 2028 vs PSU
Dislike opening a season with a game at Penn State. We need to open every season with a home game, preferably against our FCS opponent.I didn’t see the specific dates mentioned here, but I found these elsewhere:

As long as its their 1st game i dont mind as i believe it gives us the best chance to win.Dislike opening a season with a game at Penn State. We need to open every season with a home game, preferably against our FCS opponent.
The game in 2028 should be on the second week of the season. Like that a lot better.
Maybe we can do some flimflam like other ACC schools do and schedule a game on week 0 in 2027. That would be cool.
Updated the schedule. It should be the most up to date one on the Internet.
I thought the record wasn't good but those numbers are Kansas like. Yikes. Not including Bowl games we are 1-14 in our last 15 OOC P5 games. Going back further we are 5-31 in our last 36. Oddly we are 4-1 in Bowl games vs P5 teams during that same span.
By HC:
Babers 0 Ws in 5 seasons (not counting 2020)
Shafer 0 Ws in 3 seasons
Marrone 3 Ws in 4 seasons
GRob 2 Ws in 4 seasons
Coach P 0 Ws in 1 season
Ws: at Missouri, Wake (OT), Northwestern, at Notre Dame, at Illinois
Ls: Rutgers, at Maryland, Notre Dame (YS), at LSU, Notre Dame (ML), LSU, Maryland, Notre Dame (ML), Penn State (ML), at Northwestern, Northwestern, USC (ML), at Minnesota, at USC, at Washington, BC, Minnesota, at Penn State, at Northwestern, Penn State, Washington, at Iowa, Illinois, at Wake, Iowa, UVA, at FSU, at Notre Dame, at Purdue, at UVA, FSU

All P5 programs we would have a favorable matchup against than Penn ST and probably will for the next decade or so.
I think holistically Syracuse (and other schools) need to put toothpaste back in the tube and schedule teams near them for attendance purposes more than anything. Penn St, who are a power, is a good team to have at the dome and on the road. Both fan bases can spend a day trip seeing the games.
We need to be in the business of scheduling Umass, HC, Army, Penn St, Uconn habitually. Those are our peers, very close for fans to come see and our geographical peers. This is a result of frankenstein conferences where our conference teams are NC State and Clemson (still weird to me)
yeah I'm not for scheduling PSU EVERY year. That would be foolish. Sprinkle in the Rutgers/Maryland/WVU. I mean ultimately we're getting to a place where the schedule will look East Indy like again. That's my hope.I think what you say is right, but I also get what Stern is saying. We can do both. If Penn State is too hard for some people, then we can stick to local P5s like Rutgers, Maryland, and West Virginia. Maybe add in Northwestern and Vandy for the road trips.
Washington is pretty good usually and cross country. Penn State is safer. Nebraska will bounce back so no point in adding them. Arizona and Colorado are long trips. We should try to keep things local.
"FOR THE BRAND"...help expand the Syracuse brand on the west coast and maybe get a game vs an opponent on equal footing we have a better chance to win.My bigger point is I don't see the upside of scheduling a random Pac 10 team vs a team closer to us.
UConn, Rutgirls are the two I remember. There are others though. Maybe nBE schools.Really? Like who?

Not to be an alarmist, but conceivably, with the anticipated CFB upheaval coming in the 2030s, this could be SU's last home-and-home with PSU.Dislike opening a season with a game at Penn State. We need to open every season with a home game, preferably against our FCS opponent.

I hope that by the time the game is played, the build out of I-99 is complete and one can drive from Syracuse to State College without getting on any of those lovely Pennsylvania highways.

Good. Route 15 was already in the process of being bring up to interstate highway standards the last time we played Penn State at Beaver. It more or less is, though I think it's not entirely signed I-99 yet it is definitely a limited access freeway posted at 70mph from the state line all the way to Williamsport. There's a little slowdown with a couple lights and intersections between Williamsport and Salona, but it's still high speed. And then south of I-80 it's all interstate again.
That being said, I hate the Penn State NAMBLA Lions.

I am not sure if that is correct but I know when SU last played there in 2009, the seat widths for our seats were ridiculously narrow. No leg room either. They were so desperate to get their capacity high that they had no issue with making their stadium the most uncomfortable and awful venue in the country.
How Penn State of them.
I hope that soon they decide money isn't the only thing football is played for and make some changes to improve the fan experience. I would feel sorry for fans who have to go to that stadium regularly except they are Penn State fans. It is quite fitting for them to be stuck with that venue.
That can and are. They are 18 inches wide. If you sat in both stadiums, you would know.Pot meet kettle. The dome bleacher seats can't be more that 15 or 16 inches wide.
