People expect us to be different

I'll repeat what I already wrote:

"Some of our losses this year would have been to mid-tier big east teams. The top end in the ACC is far superior but the teams in the BE before we left were holding their own in OCC games." Marrone won games with far less talent, based on what I've read about our talent and all the offensive records we are breaking until the last two games. So proportionally, the ACC argument is a cop out to some degree.

But I agree with you, depth is a problem. These guys are getting beat up because we are playing tougher overall opponents despite the fact our star ranking as a team is significantly higher than previous year teams.
Doug had better talent across the board.
NFL QB, much better OL, solid RBs secondary was solid. He had better talent.

We are different.

How many P5 teams can say they gave up 56 or more points, 725 or more yards (370 or more rushing) two weeks in a row?

Dillon might win the Heisman next week.

Babers isn't going anywhere and he will be given time. He needs to understand however that playing defense matters, especially in this league and please stop blaming the fans who choose not to show up for garbage. Get rid of Ward and bring in someone who knows what they're doing otherwise wash, rinse, repeat. If the answer is that we need Miami level talent to run this defense then we have failed and will continue to do so. This is much more than a talent problem.

dungey has yet to make it thru a season. so don't complain about your qb going down when the system you run puts him at dire risk of a season ending injury practically every possession. human body can only take so much abuse.

Ward is fine. They identified the issues, brought in players to mitigate those issues, and we got a lot better on D. Those players got hurt and now we are what we were last year on D.

We’d love Miami level talent, but I think we can get by with faster/taller guys than the Shafer DBs. Martin made a big difference back there.

Babers has shown the ability to identify the problems and is not afraid to fix them. If it’s Ward, he’ll make a change.

Most of the complaints are our terrible defense which has nothing to do with QB.

When your offense poses no problems for the opponent, that hurts your defense.

It seems pretty obvious that having Dungey would not have caused the defense to tackle better, but it probably would have kept the defense off the field a bit more.

It seems to me that his injury occurred when his leg was twisted on a fairly innocuous tackle.

I can't blame the offensive system for that.

Depth was a big problem under Marrone.

It is an inherent problem for developing programs.

And that problem manifests itself as the season progresses.

.I havent seen anyone come up with such a dopey way to throw since Chad Curtis used to fall on his face on purpose
Eagle Scout, straight A student in HS, offers from Ohio St, Clemson, Florida, Miami, etc. I can't believe Shafer recruited him and Babers took his NLI (sarcasm)

Doug Marrone played 7 Big East opponents in conference play.
We play in the ACC Atlantic now.

Our depth is a problem.

And Marrone was a great coach.

we have the same depth everyone else has. but the ones playing all look hurt to tome. We are getting decent line play today just awful angles on every big play it seems.
We do not have the same depth. I suppose if you count the number of players at each position, we technically all have the same depth, but that isn't the point. It's the drop off in talent between starters and reserves that causes a "depth issue". That is only fixed with time, and good recruiting.

What was the yardage from halftime to halftime the last two weeks? 900?

That's all great but he throws off the wrong foot

dungey leads the team in rushing attempts (143) and yards (595). system.

ACC was down that year. NC State, Wake, Maryland, BC, Tulane, and Wagner were our wins.

Babers would be bowling against that schedule too.
Speculation. Babers is in fact 0-2 vs NCST and 0-2 vs Wake. There is no reason to believe that Babers could have won with Hunt at QB that year. And until he proves that he can actually not get his arse handed to him by Clawson, I see no reason to believe that 2013 would have been any different.

Ward is not fine, look deep into the stats, against quality 1st string QBs we suck. We got lucky against Pitt and Clemson by knocking their signal callers out.

you may have just started watching college football but quality qbs tear up most teams

Most of those other quality QBs also have functional defenses. UL has a heisman future NFL QB and because their D fell off this year they are only 7-4. That's with arguably one of the top 3 QBs in the country. Maybe it's you that just started watching.

where's west virginia's pat white now ? he rushed for 248 yds and 4 tds against us.

It's funny you brought him up. I remember how that guy and Slaton just tore us to shreds. Interesting, that was against another historically bad defense under Gerg.
