I have watched this team all year and I still have no idea what Syracuse tries to do on defense.
There has literally been no improvement all year.
They just seem to throw something against the wall every game and hope it works.
In the Cal game, I thought they finally had a defensive identity but that was just a one time thing.
Up until the middle of the season, I thought Taylor and Cuffe showed real effort on defense.
Then I think out of watching their teammates not do a damn thing all year they just gave up trying.
Or in Cuffes case, his contribution to the team was not valued. Even when he plays well offensively, he still gets minimal playing time.
And dont get me started on player rotations. Makes no sense at all.
Players who are shooting well during a game are sent to the bench
Players who cant seem to hit the broad side of a barn during the game are kept in longer.
I swear Syracuse thinks its better to play whoever has the cold hand, and douse those hot hands.

I'm just waiting to see what happens in the off-season. No need to get bent out of shape over all this every day.

Carry on!

I think it’s silly to over analyze the press conferences. I’m guessing that if you gave Red truth serum he’d say “our guys suck at defense. That’s why our defense is horrible. I tell them what to do, they try to do it, but they suck at it.”

Now, we can discuss why he assembled a roster loaded with guys who suck at defense. But the bottom line is that almost all of them suck at defense.
Suck at it as in they can't or they won't?

To me it seems they choose not to defend, not that they lack the ability to. This is not a talent gap that Red found these guys who choose to play one side of the ball.
