Peyton or Eli

And yet Rivers is undefeated against Eli. Since QB's are pretty much all that factor into these games, I guess that means he's better than Eli. :)

These whole arguments are Eli-fan boy based so they're not really winnable. It's not like Eli made that Williams dude fumble over the game to the Giants in the Conference Championship - if he did that, then he would be elite. :)

Analysis doesn't begin and end with the Super Bowl - if it did Brad Johnson would forever be remembered as a super awesome almost HOF worthy QB. Match-ups matter, leagues matter, defenses, all of it. Plus, unless someone does something special and sets a record QB's win MVP by default typically. I don't know, if Welker makes that catch, or Tyree drops his it wouldn't mean Eli sucks either. Although maybe he would to Giants fan - who knows.

I sincerely doubt you could more than a handful of non-Giants fan who think Eli is in the same ballpark as Rogers as a QB.

I hear ya. I never doubted Rodgers would be in the HOF but the argument is Eli hasnt done if for long enough. Well neither has Rodgers. I am sure he will but lets see it first.

Very fair. Obviously as a Chargers fan I'm not a huge fan of the Mannings (lol), but I do think prior to this year the majority of people wouldn't have ranked him ahead of Rivers.

I think with the two Super Bowls, and how poorly Rivers looked this year, it's quite fair to say that he's in a different class than Rivers now though. I wouldn't argue that point.

I think Eli getting into the HOF isn't a lock, he has to keep putting together a few more solid years first. He's got the tools now though, especially if Cruz keeps developing.

My argument as well. Rodgers has one great season (he was decent last year and got hot) and all of a sudden he is a hall of famer? Rivers is a joke and wont even sniff the HOF. I wouldnt trust him from first and goal from the 1 with the defense having 6 guys on the field.

Namath in is a bigger joke. His numbers suck. Maybe if Eli guaranteed his 2 titles? Hmmmmm...

Rodgers was much better than decent last year...

Since Rodgers became the starter in Green Bay:

2008:
Rodgers: 341-536 (63.6%), 4,038 Yards, 28 TD, 13 Int, 93.8 Rating
Manning: 289-479 (60.3%), 3,238 Yards, 21 TD, 10 Int, 86.4 Rating

2009:
Rodgers: 350-541 (64.7%), 4,434 Yards, 30 TD, 7 Int, 103.2 Rating
Manning: 317-509 (62.3%), 4,021 Yards, 27 TD, 14 Int, 93.1 Rating

2010:
Rodgers*: 312-475 (65.7%), 3,922 Yards, 28 TD, 11 Int, 101.2 Rating
Manning: 339-539 (62.9%), 4,002 Yards, 31 TD, 25 Int, 85.3 Rating

2011:
Rodgers*: 343-502 (68.3%), 4,643 Yards, 45 TD, 6 Int, 122.5 Rating
Manning: 359-589 (61%), 4,933 Yards, 29 TD, 16 Int, 92.9 Rating

* = Played in 15 games

I didn't even bother including rushing stats, because that's not really part of Eli's game, while it's a big part of Rodgers', so I didn't think it was fair, but that only helps bolster the case for Rodgers if you choose not to throw them out.

Records:
Green Bay: 42-24 (4-2 Playoffs)
New York: 44-25 (4-1 Playoffs)

Rodgers beat Manning in every statistical category except for Ints in 2008, Yards in 2010 (80 behind with one less game), TDs in 2010 (3 behind with 1 less game), and yards in 2011 (290 behind in one less game). He's won two fewer games total, and they've each won a Super Bowl (Eli's first came in the final year of the Favre era). He's been to the playoffs three times, Manning twice. He's three years younger. I don't think any rational, unbiased football fan would take Eli over Rodgers. Eli's a top-5 quarterback, he wins big games, he's on the fast track for the Hall of Fame, but he's not a better quarterback than Aaron Rodgers.

I certainly would take Rodgers over Eli.

I get the stats and they pretty much speak for themselves. I do think however you have to look at more than just stats and the clutch factor has to be brought into the conversation (and I'm referring to all QB's) in terms of do they have "it" and are they worthy of the hall. What Eli did in 2007 and more importantly in 2011-2012 with the worst running game in the NFL is nothing short of greatness. Throw in once again him besting Brady and the Pats to win another SB. Throw in the number of 4th quarter comebacks, the road playoff wins and that was really my point of this whole thread. Plus like I had said earlier had Plax not shot himself in 2008, the Giants (who were the best team in the NFL prior to that) would have went to the Super Bowl and probably would have won back to back titles. They had already beaten the Steelers that year in Pittsburgh and they would have most certainly beat Arizona to at least get to the SB.

It should be fun to watch these teams battle out for NFC supremacy in the next 5-7 years. When it is all said and done they both will be in the hall so it really is a moot point.
