Isn’t the kid with Akok the same kid that was in the picture with JB?

Eck, didn’t love his answer about Cuse. His Georgetown answer is hilarious though. Who has Ewing put into the pros!
The recruiting process has not been short on intrigue for top 35 forward
Akok Akok
, one of the breakouts from the July evaluation periods. Georgetown, Pitt, Providence, Syracuse and UConn recently hosted the four-star prospect, and a commitment is all that remains for the four-star recruit.
One of the more unique prospects in the 2019 class, Akok climbed the Rivals150 quickly, thanks to his ability to consistently make shots but also defend as a premier rim protector. Down to a final five, Akok discussed each program remaining in the picture.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
Georgetown: “It was a great weekend. Coach (Patrick) Ewing just feels like I could be the next big pro for him. He feels like I could really help his team and make their future even better. It is awesome having someone like him sharing his knowledge with me and maybe having the chance to play for him.”
Pitt: “Coach (Jeff) Capel just feels like I could be a great addition to his program, and that by going there we could become one of the top teams in the country. He came up to a lot of my practices this fall and has really made me a priority. He feels like he could get me to the next level and with his past in coaching those kinds of guys, he thinks he could do just the same with me.”
Providence: “It was fun getting the chance to see coach (Ed) Cooley and coach (Brian) Blaney. It was good hanging with them. It was a good overall weekend and I got the chance to see all of the facilities. It would be a good spot and could be a great place for me to develop and help me get to the next level.”
Syracuse: “Coach (Jim) Boeheim feels like I remind him of some of his best players in the past, like
Jerami Grant
, and how he helped get them to the NBA and he just feels like he could do that with me, too.”
UConn: “It is another school that I have a very good relationship with, coach (Danny) Hurley and the rest of the coaches there. I feel like it could be a good place for me to get better, but also make a run for the national championship.”
WHAT'S NEXT?
Akok will be a player – regardless of which school that he chooses – who will immediately impact a college program, thanks to his diverse skill set. Standing over 6-foot-9 and blessed with great instincts and length, Akok can affect the game on both ends.
Nearing the Early Signing Period next week, Akok remains undecided on what he might do.
“I really don’t know yet. I am just thinking things through and whenever it comes to me, that is what it is going to be,” he said. “I need to talk to my family about it all, but I don’t know if I want to sign early or not. Whenever it comes to me, I will know.”
Holy shizballs, Hurley. What are you trying to sell?UConn: “It is another school that I have a very good relationship with, coach (Danny) Hurley and the rest of the coaches there. I feel like it could be a good place for me to get better, but also make a run for the national championship.”

If he believes that... he's probably a non qualifier.

The UConn answer is confusing... how Hurley sold him on them being a title contender when they aren't even a contender for the AAC right now is amazing.

To be fair he mentioned Pitt being a top team in the country too. He’s just repeating what the coaches tell himThe UConn answer is confusing... how Hurley sold him on them being a title contender when they aren't even a contender for the AAC right now is amazing.
it's likely not the whole of what he said, they are all just snippets. and frankly all pretty anodyne.Eck, didn’t love his answer about Cuse. His Georgetown answer is hilarious though. Who has Ewing put into the pros!
Which is why I can’t wait until next week. I just want to crush them and then have Hurley justify that to him with a new pitch. To be fair he mentioned Pitt being a top team in the country too. He’s just repeating what the coaches tell him
Hurley acted like he won the national title last night. He was more pumped last night than JB was to get to the FF in 2016 lol
This... I just want this to wait until after our game with Uconn... run up the score on them and let him decide if Hurley's claims still seem legit.Which is why I can’t wait until next week. I just want to crush them and then have Hurley justify that to him with a new pitch.
National title at UConn? Does Hurley have a time machine that takes him back to 2004?
I think Lydon is the best comp.Interesting that JB gave him a Jerami Grant comp. Grant really didn't have that kind of reliable range on his jumper. One could argue that maybe a slightly better comp could be Dolezaj. A 6'9"/6'10" guy with some range on his jumper and has some freedom to do multiple things on offense. If I was GMac, I'd tell Ak Ak to watch MD during that UConn game to see the kind of ways JB could use him (I am making the assumption that since Ak Ak is 4/5 star recruit he probably has more athleticism and maybe more skilled than MD, but MD is at least a reasonable example of a current forward being given a bigger offensive role to include jumpers out to 3 point range. Lydon a good comp too.)
give him the comp to the kid that just signed a big 2nd contract. smart.Interesting that JB gave him a Jerami Grant comp. Grant really didn't have that kind of reliable range on his jumper.
