Class of 2024 PF Donnie Freeman (MD / IMG) COMMITTED & SIGNED TO SYRACUSE (5/11/23)

Yeah, hes playing a brutal schedule, 3-4 top 100 kids every game, which will only help his development. Almost every game I listen to the announcers mention that the IMG staff raves about Donnie and that hes a super coachable kid. Hopefully this is true because the natural talent is there and with good coaching and a strong work ethic and a commitment to strength and conditioning, his ceiling is higher than anyone weve had since probably Mccullough.

He's in that McCullough mold for sure. I think people can put away thoughts of him playing the 3 away for a few years. IMG coaches acknowledge he is playing out of position at the 5. He looked to me like a really tall kid with ball skills he's not quite ready to use yet. I hope for his sake he never has to play the 5 for SU.

DC was only about 220 when he got here, but was strong, and had the inner city desire to grab every rebound.

It will be interesting to see where he is rated next Monday with the new rankings. He is going to move up. How much is the question.
Yep, totally agree, my friend. Biancardi already said he's moving up at ESPN. No. 21 at On3...top 30 elsewhere. They don't necessarily take the top 24 ranked guys for the McDonald's All-America games, per se, but I assume Donnie will need to be pushing the top 25 everywhere to get in.

Correct. In 247 and on3 he’s in the top 60 I believe. ESPN is clueless.
I actually called Paul Biancardi out on Moore not being in the top 100 a while back. He texted me some fun comments lol. We've made up since, but I don't get how Moore can't be in the top 100. Then again, MADE Hoops has Moore outside the top 125. Wut? Lol.

I think some of the scouting services with few employees only cover the EYBL and ignore the other circuits. That said they should be paying attention to his current season.

Agreed. Just my opinion, but I don't think 3SSB and UAA get nearly the same kind of coverage as EYBL. Given Elijah is in OTE, and Donnie is in EYBL Scholastic, there is no excuse for analysts not staying on top of their performances. Their respective stats are available online :)

I remember hearing similar things about Benny when he was recruited. I hope Donnie has the drive and confidence to make the most of his talents.

Do I dare asked if Moore is still unranked?
He is, which is such a joke. Cole Certa(ranked 86th) plays on Donnies team so I've seen quite a bit of him. Its laughable that hes rated higher than Moore. The only thing comparable between the two is shooting and even there I would give Moore the edge. Certa does nothing else close to Moore.
