I don’t think people realize how much the bottom half of the ACC is struggling in the portal. They’re either getting sniped or just have to wait for prices to cool down. Or they have new coaches that hardly know the program they are now in charge of.
It’s easy to point to the top handful of teams that crushed a top portal target but most teams are just lost.
And imagine being a midmajor ha. Nitemare for them. Take Siena could be another 20 years until they get back to the tourney again and that cycle is repeating everywhere.
I gotta give gmac credit for bringing in a balanced crew and getting after it right out of the gate.
I don’t mind seeing us give him more money to get him at Cuse. He shouldn’t make more than Sadiq so not sure what adjustments need to be made there. It all depends on what Gmac and this staff want and how much they value him. I know they’re trying to spend their money wisely and efficiently. Maybe Folefac will value the familiarity and the way Gmac and the staff can develop him over the unknown of GT and decide to take a little less money to stay at Cuse.Yeah so here's the thing. This guy has a slot and value to Syracuse. No idea what Syracuse is offering but if its not close to GT for whatever reason (slotting, money budgeted elsewhere, etc), then move on. Glad the kid is getting his nut. We are not talking about Charles Oakley here. I would rather Syracuse move on.
But oddly enough, not for a long time.View attachment 262364
That goes a long way at this place
In the current landscape, I would never take less to go anywhere, regardless of familiarity. You only have so much time to maximize your value.I don’t mind seeing us give him more money to get him at Cuse. He shouldn’t make more than Sadiq so not sure what adjustments need to be made there. I'm not disagreeing with you, but the portal list is pretty lean for players similar to Folefac's skill level that would be willing to come off the bench. Most players that good are going to want starters minutes and starters dollars. Cuse needs him as insurance and as a plug and play.In the current landscape, I would never take less to go anywhere, regardless of familiarity. You only have so much time to maximize your value.
And if I'm Syracuse, I wouldn't pay more than $500k for Folefac. There are better value pickups for $800k in the portal.

I would say the 800k is purely speculation and sometimes agents try to create a bidding war. Just like selling a house the proof is in the offer. Some of these kids have agents taking 20%-40% of the deal and giving bad advice.Interestingly enough if 800k is already being posted on our boards clearly he still open to Syracuse negotiating.
If he was taking the 800k we’d be reading a Thamel post about him committing to GTech right now.
Seems the balls in GMacs court now. I tend to think that we could come up a little, who knows add 100k to our initial offer and say hey it’s been fun do what you gotta do for your family Francis. Who knows an investment this year may help keep him here his Jr year cuz Gmac gave him chance.
The players better start finding ways to educate themselves on who should be their agent and how it works. This is basically pro ball now. No excuse not to learn and it doesn't matter what their background is. Learn during the process so for your other 1 year deals you don't get screwed over. We all learn things through mistakes.I would say the 800k is purely speculation and sometimes agents try to create a bidding war. Just like selling a house the proof is in the offer. Did Gerry say that or is it just unsourced reports? We were told money will not be a object and we will be in the upper 1/3 of the ACC..
Why would Gerry say that?Did Gerry say that or is it just unsourced reports?
Pete Thamel said itDid Gerry say that or is it just unsourced reports?
Thamel: “Syracuse officials stressed during the process a commitment to NIL that projects in the top third of the ACC, sources said.”Did Gerry say that or is it just unsourced reports?
Oh be careful saying overpayed that’s a touchy word lolSyracuse has money. It’s important to remember that negotiations are two sided and they both have a number in mind. If they can’t come together, there will be no deal. That’s likely what’s happening with Folefac. You don’t overpay for a kid just because of prior connections.
If you were to give an educated guess, how much Rev Share plus NIL do they have to work with?Syracuse has money. I don’t care who I upset. Facts are the facts.Oh be careful saying overpayed that’s a touchy word lol
I’ve been told by a few people and read between the lines enough on this board to come to the conclusion they started with a number north of 10.5 million. Take it for what it’s worth because I don’t know how true it is.If you were to give an educated guess, how much Rev Share plus NIL do they have to work with?
Oh I agree with you I’m just saying lolI don’t care who I upset. Facts are the facts.
Yeah from what I have gathered here and a few other places it has been mentioned as 11-13 million. I wonder if they have donors they can reach out to in case someone they really want becomes available but is cost prohibitive.I’ve been told by a few people and read between the lines enough on this board to come to the conclusion they started with a number north of 10.5 million. Melo / Lobdell’s group is who that “emergency” money would be if that was happening.Yeah from what I have gathered here and a few other places it has been mentioned as 11-13 million. Counterpoint - the music eventually stops and everyone’s scrambling for a chair.I think there’s a very good chance we’ve banked money and are waiting to make a move for the right guy as the market settles. We are far from the only school that still needs players.
We aren’t at that point yet. Still about 40 players in the top 100 in on3 left. We actually have two of them.Counterpoint - the music eventually stops and everyone’s scrambling for a chair.
If he is tough on defense and can play in Mac’s scheme, get him here asap.I would say the 800k is purely speculation and sometimes agents try to create a bidding war. Just like selling a house the proof is in the offer. Some of these kids have agents taking 20%-40% of the deal and giving bad advice.
