We can’t have 12 full price players. Some number are going to be low-priced, serviceable projects. Nothing wrong with that as long as we fill core needs

No…….. but we do need more than 1.5 full price players to go along with injury proned guys and guys avg 2 points a game……. I would think.

Adding a kid like this and now Deng and you look at the rest of the roster and now, run and gun makes sense. Lots of athletes, more two way players, two players at the point who are playmakers and a few really good shooters. It’s a team that is constructed with a vision that you can connect the dots on style of play.

Also the experience factor to me with this kid outweighs not having a 7 footer on the floor. Although I know Donnie is listed at 6-9 but didn’t he jump up to 6-10 or 6-11 per reports last year( not Rothstein lol)
this guy look pretty good but hes not a center...hes a forward.

having a roster with zero centers taller than 6'9" seems a gigantic gamble to me...but what do I know??

Just the transfers in from portal are weak, we have 2 good freshmen coming in who will need a few years to mature to contribute to the level we need, JJ and Freeman should be solid, but we will struggle
So who did you think we needed to get?

I wonder about this too.

Wouldn't be surprised to see if we reach on a true center that's a little taller.

They think he can play small ball 5. That isn't a guess.
Oh I think he can too. I was wondering more about how our projected 5s don't have a ton of height.

Just watched some more on this kid and i really like him. Has a some Hak in his game with a better handle.
What part of this guy's game would be even comparable let alone better than Hak's?

You were around when we had a front court 6-9, 6-8, and 6-4, and won 30 games 1989.
It's not height it's desire. And our center that year set the school block record at 127.
Later broken by Etan Thomas.
Give me athletic guys who can jump and run, and change inside shots and I' m happy.

We have definitely improved the athleticism. This kid is quick, agile and appears to have a good IQ on the floor. It looks like we have guys who can fill the lanes and finish.

Definitely seems to me like they want Freeman to be the big man scorer (as they should). They don't want a center who is going to take shots away from him, they want a center who will rebound and defend. Look at it through that lens and the two guys we picked up make a lot of sense and seem pretty good.

He’s a backup 4/5 who fits the style of play and adds defense and athleticism along with being a solid rebounder off the bench.
So we have two backup centers from the portal. Where’s the starter?

its a very one dimensional approach

if it works...it works

if it doesnt...theres no plan B and the season is over (again)

i hope they can at least get 1 center that is 7 foot or taller

Remind me again, how tall were Houston's players last night?
houston plays a very ugly brand of basketball predicated on rabid defense and aggression (which allows them to get away with shorter players)

is that what we're going for here??

im not seeing that
