Yea as I said above. I can't tell if they are just taking lots of names and making headlines or actually doing something.

Also Upset gets the understatement of the year award. People would be after Autry's head every day that went by if we lost Freeman or didn't pickup George or Kingz early on or didn't cut ties with all the rest.

At best people seem to be apprehensive about at the 5 and maybe JJ's minutes and maybe a little with the depth, obviously the coaching.

That seems reasonable but also compared to the last 2 years where we were severally lacking at 3 positions on the court at most times it's really a huge upgrade this offseason.

Donnie's going to play some 3, too; whenever Donnie and Saddiq are on the court together. Neither one of those guys is a center, except against low level teams. We're still going to have to play Kyle or Soare when those 2 are out there together. That means you move Kingz to the 2 for more shooting, and JJ to the bench.

Not as sold on White as you are. Watched the Jordan and wasn’t impressed. great athlete with virtually no offensive game, and only got one rebound. Having him and Kyle together would severely limit our offense imo.

I agree on White. I think we need two more experienced depth pieces—another shooter on the wing or at PF and an athletic big bodied center. I don’t have a lot of faith in freshman these days to play key roles on winning teams. If we had a great coach, maybe it would be a different story. I’m hopeful that Kiyan and Fennell can be immediate contributors, but I’m skeptical.

I was very Impressed with Anthony in the Jordan. Got to the hoop, finished with either hand, and showed a better 3 point touch than I expected. After all he was mvp of a game that included most of the top recruits, including the Boozer twins and the BYU kid who was rated #1. I think he’ll be a terrific 6th man capable of providing instant offense at the 2 or 3. And if Fennell isn’t ready, he could sub for George with JJ sliding back to point. But I just don’t think White has enough offense to see much time next to Kyle and Donnie. I would love to get a stretch four with size and a shot.

Hah did you watch that game? It was 141-124 and he played 13 mins. They weren't playing defense or battling for boards. It's a HS all star game. The shooters and guards are going to shoot and get to the rim or get easy buckets with assists.

White showed 1000x more in that all star game performance than Benny did in multiple HS all star games combined.

Yup. White's value, at least as a Freshman, will rest on his ability to guard 1-4 and rebound. If those skills translate, he will see minutes regardless of what he brings on offense.

Did you look at our defensive ratings last year? There isn't going to be a season worth watching past November if we're in the 300's in defense again. Let George/JJ/Kiyan/Kingz and Donnie worry about scoring.

You seriously think we’re gonna beat anyone good by shutting them down defensively? If that were the goal we wouldn’t have prioritized Kingz and George, and retained Starling. We’re either gonna outscore teams or lose. Having two guys whose offense is limited to within 5 feet of the hoop makes it easier for defenses to clog the lanes, and our three point shooting is still suspect.

Defense isn't a binary thing, where you're either a shutdown team or a matador team. We will need to be better than we were last year. Significantly better. That doesn't mean top 50, but we had better be better than 150. And, just to exercise my snark for the day, i would suggest that any team that doesn't "outscore" the other team will lose. : )

Unfortunately, since the staff will be the same and i trust it not one iota to teach D, we will have to rely on the increase in athleticism and our new squad's inherent abilities to boost the D. That should happen, and then the Autry Apologists will say, "See! We just had bad defenders last year." They will be only be 44% correct, but will take the win nevertheless.

Ah. Gotcha. Thought you were talking transfers specifically. They only have a 2 player freshman class which I’m sure is hurting their ranking, but one of them is a 5 star according to 247. That’s gotta be the first 5 star to NC State in a while.

White is by no means a reliable three point threat at this time. But he’s no Kyle, a guy heading into his senior year with zero three point attempts. It’s hard to tell without watching multiple games, but I think White is a player that you are ok with taking three point shots, as long as he is wide open.

If White plays 10-15 minutes a game, I think you’re ok as his coach letting him take 1-2 per game if they are daring him to shoot. I don’t think he’s one of those guys you tell to never ever shoot from three point range. He seemed to set up in the left corner a lot in his high school video. He mostly cuts to the basket for dunks from there, but he also receives the ball and drives from that corner pretty frequently, and did have some makes from there.

I agree you don’t want White and either Kyle or Souare out there for long together, or you’re going to run into scoring droughts. But a few minutes per half won’t kill you. It also is an opportunity to press, with White in the inbounder and Kyle protecting the hoop at the other end.

This roster will give Red the chance to be creative if he wants to be.

I’d honestly rather(potentially) have Betsey for multiple years than Deng for one season.

We aren’t getting another center. Thats pretty evident. The freshmen are coming off the bench. If they are as good as some think we really shouldn’t need anyone else as a rotational piece.

If we were to sign someone else at their position to replace them in the rotation there’s a possibility one of them decommits. That’s what happened at multiple other schools. It’s why Acaden Lewis asked out of UK and Adam’s asked out of UConn.

And not for nothing we have the 3rd best newcomer class in the conference as of today when you combine recruits and transfers. If we don’t win this year the blame lies with Autrys coaching.
