Oh.. wow. That's a buzzkill and quite surprising. '26 class quickly looking like a dud. Portal it is!
Look, yeah there is a portal now. Also, what are the odds after a strong class of 2024 and even stronger class of 2025, that the class of 2026 as a collective is as talented. It seems to go through waves on the seasons where freshmen are more valued than not on the best teams. This season seems to be one where freshmen are more valued. The starters for next season could realistically already be on the roster.

And we already have George, Anthony, and Fennell on the roster for next year. We really don't need a small guard on the team.

Assuming we have a good year and yet most guys still decide to return (with adequate incentive) you’ve got a backcourt of Nait and Kiyan, Fennell off the bench then Kingz, Sadiq, Betsey and Womack as wings/forwards.. so outside other forwards and bigs to play outside of Diawara the inn seems pretty full.

I mean this is definitely true and probably played a factor. I believe we are going to try to get smith now we are out on rippey.

With the expectation that Adrian Autry will return for 2026-2027. If they aren't worried about the dad-son coaching dynamic, Trey Autry could be a fantastic addition to the guard room off the bench. Would be a veteran and plays already on a good team in the A-10. He may be hurt right now. Could be something to track with George Washington this season. If George Washington wins the conference, Trey could also follow his coach to a power conference team. Definitely seems like a legit possibility that Trey is a power conference player as a senior.

Well said.

I also find this odd.
Not odd if you understand that this is an "opinion" based board. Sometimes opinions get misinterpreted when they aren't clearly presented that way. The insiders here (and I'm not one), are generally careful to qualify what they bring to the discussion.

Actually it’s not some people have inside information, not opinions.

This doesn't surprise me to much, this staff has historically been off on their read on these higher top 20 type kids. Every year I read that we're the school to beat and that they might be committing, and every year its the same, if we don't get them earlier in the process they probably arnt coming. Im sure the kids talk it up like they are coming, and God bless the staff for trying to get in the minds of a teenager. But I dont ever get wrapped up in the "where we stand" stuff because history has shown its rarely accurate
