2. 4-star PG Deron Rippey​

Good things seemed to happen when Deron Rippey was on the floor. Listed at 6-foot-1, the point guard got anywhere on the floor he wanted, touching the paint consistently, and making a play. Rippey plays with an excellent pace, and he does not force things, moving the ball and relocating. Defensively, Rippey shined as well. He was able to heat the ball up, guarding for 94 feet on each possession. He also made a couple of spot threes on relocation kickouts. Through both sessions, Rippey’s team played together and they won, the floor general elevated the play of those around him.

Between Rippey and Jordan Smith, that's two top-15 lead guards SU has a jump on and leading relationship with already for '26. Rippey's dad is very close with Red.

Could see the staff going portal or in-house in '25, then handing the keys to one of the elite '26 PGs.

Yeah, ever since the Orange offered Deron last August, I've caught up with his dad on many occasions. His dad loves 'Cuse and Red. Not saying that means Deron will pick Syracuse basketball, but I do expect the Orange to land an OV from him at some point and be heavily in the mix!!

I texted with Deron's dad this AM. He noted the Kansas staff in for Deron tonight. Syracuse is expected to visit Deron at Blair at some point in the near future...

He doesn’t seem to be as high on SU as others based on what is written in articles. Maybe it means nothing. He’s exactly what we need.

I’d say it means nothing just because it’s so early in his recruiting stage, things change very quickly
