Class of 2026 PG Deron Rippey Jr. (NY/NJ) Offered

So. Would. I.
I will get intel from Deron's dad and others on how the OV went, my friend.
Just curious. It would seem that guys as highly rated as Rippey and Smith would be looking to start as frosh. We would reasonably expect, portal notwithstanding, to have George and Anthony back as starters next year, and Fennell as a possible contributor. Do you think that might be a reason to worry about these possible commitments?

It's a fair point, but all these guys are fierce competitors. I can't speak to other teams, but Red and his staff don't promise recruits that they will start. They have to earn the time, and if I'm being honest, I'm not sure that Rippey and Smith are "worried" about the other guys on the roster in terms of playing time. I could be wrong. But for both of them, that is a thing to consider with all their suitors. Duke is heavy for Smith, for example; the Blue Devils have a loaded roster...

As I was walking to the game I saw griff in the car with his dad and Deron. Told them both this is the best place In the world and they both smiled. They couldn’t have a better atmosphere and day for their visit
Love that. Griff and Autry go way back with Ron Ron's dad, who is an awesome guy. Not saying Syracuse is gonna win here, but I think the Orange has a legit shot.

I wish. That won't be the case, but I'll try to get as much intel as I can about where SU stands ...
I appreciate all you do, mainly your really good attitude, you are objective as well. I feel syracuse basketball should and could be at an elite level in the future given our history, JMA, And most importantly the ridiculous fact that this is a tremendously fun university with literally wild crowds if we win consistently. Given monetary support and a true winner I feel we should be exponentially in the top quarter of the ACC every year right back where we belong. NIL support is critical to go along with all of the other factors. Killer student athlete experience for sure so much fun! by the way I read this board because of people like you there is so much negativity and lack of objectivity in my opinion. I know we are trying real hard to become successful again. I encourage all posters and even casual fans to buy season's tickets. Maybe we could act like an SEC middling program in terms of fan support, what do you guys think would happen here if we even had that level of support for the next decade win lose or draw? I suspect we would win at a very high level for both programs with the men's basketball team having a much higher ceiling. Just my thoughts

These are well-said thoughts, my friend, and I appreciate you as well. I think Syracuse did a great job out of the portal this offseason, and the high school recruiting has been solid for a couple of years. If the team can just get back to its winning ways on the court, that will help with fan engagement and NIL. I'm not saying Syracuse will make the tourney this season, but I'm cautiously optimistic that the team will be much better than last year (and I know the bar was set low last season) and other recent campaigns.

I've been trying to find out more about what the deal is with Orange United...see what I can find out. Wildhack said in the spring he was streamlining NIL efforts, because SU has 3 collectives supporting athletes. I think NIL was better this offseason, which helped SU retain JJ and Donnie while landing a nice portal class. Gotta have more clarity moving forward, though, on the NIL strategy among OU, SU Football NIL and Athletes Who Care. I've also heard that SU has gotten solid donations beyond those collectives, too, but this is anecdotal.
