My question is if McNamara is pocketing NIL $$$ for next year:

Is it possible he knows the infusion this year was a one-time deal, so save up for next year if the projected budget is lower, so when you have a GM in place and a whole year to put out feelers/tamper./whatever we call it, you can go for broke on the roster?

I think the best way to assure it would only be a one time infusion is to take the money and put together a very underwhelming team. If he took the money, landed splash transfers, and have a big time year, that would only make getting a bigger budget consistently more attainable and feasible.

Not being mentioned: If this guy is a defensive specialist who plays 20 a game across multiple positions, this is a home run pickup. He can guard against PG, SG, SF. He can also put the ball in the basket if he is left alone on offense. Sort of the Maliq Brown type role at Duke (except as a guard). Smart coaches spend money on a guy like that.

I think the probl;em is that his kid is a good pt guard. But is he the right fit for what this team desperately needs right now? I guess Gerry would say Yes. And if this kid shot 36% from 3, I would agree with him. But we now have three guys that are low 30% 3 pt shooters. That is an issue. Also, we have no proven low post scorer. To say we have an offensive issue doesn't do it justice. I know we have money available and we will still sign guys but where do we get help? We now have our pt guard. We have our 2 guards. We have our 3 between 3M and either Doty and Anthony. Our 4 is set with White. ???????

You know a lot about 3M? I don't care whether any of us know thse guys. Makes no difference to me. What I do care about is balance. And so far, we aren't balanced on offense. Well, maybe we are when you think, we don't have a low post scorer or any elite outside shooter other than 3M. I know how much money we had at the start, and I am starting to worry about that thing where someone said that Gerry wanted to save money for next year might be true. Insane if it is.

This would change my view entirely, if Dual is coming off the bench then my hope is restored. But as many have mentioned, I believe dasher originally, I’d be hard pressed to believe he committed this early in the cycle to be a backup.

I think they would like to add another wing to the bench. It just isn't going to be enough shooting or offense. I don't see a world where Anthony/Doty/White/Dual aren't starting. And I don't think there is a center that can magically save it that is in the portal.

I also imagine they will add another lesser PG that can shoot but I don't expect anything major as the starter spot is already taken.

I have the guy. We will love this kid. He is 6-4 Good size. handles the ball well. Just finsihed his 4th year Jr season. Not an out side shooter at all. He averaged 3 pts a game as a Jr with 1.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He is the starter at the pt. His name was Laz Simms.
