Class of 2023 PG Garwey Dual (TX) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/11/26)

  • OBPR: Offensive Bayesian Performance Rating reflects the offensive value a player brings to his team when he is on the court. This rating incorporates a player’s individual efficiency stats and on-court play-by-play impact, and also accounts for the offensive strength of other teammates on the floor with him, along with the defensive strength of the opponent’s players on the floor. OBPR is interpreted as the number of offensive points per 100 possessions above D1 average expected by the player’s team if the player were on the court with 9 other average players. A higher rating is better.
  • DBPR: Defensive Bayesian Performance Rating reflects the defensive value a player brings to his team when he is on the court. This rating incorporates a player’s individual efficiency stats and on-court play-by-play impact, and also accounts for the defensive strength of other teammates on the floor with him, along with the offensive strength of the opponent’s players on the floor. DBPR is interpreted as the number of defensive points per 100 possessions better than (below) D1 average expected to be allowed by the player’s team if the player were on the court with 9 other average players. A higher rating is better.
  • BPR: Bayesian Performance Rating is the sum of a player’s OBPR and DBPR. This rating is the ultimate measure of a player’s overall value to his team when he is on the floor. BPR is interpreted as the number of points per 100 possessions better than the opponent the player’s team is expected to be if the player were on the court with 9 other average players. A higher rating is better.
Thank you, brother. I could have googled. Just wanted to say that I wasn’t mocking your post. I was mocking my own reluctance to learn new stuff.

Offensive spark off the bench

If that's the case, that's a different discussion. If Dual is the back up, then fine. He's not good enough to be a starter on a tournament team, that's what I've been saying. Although, as an offensive spark, offense happens to be the weak part of his game.

The Aussie is a clear upgrade.

Yeah, he's a good offensive center, good rebounder. Not enough rim protection. But not every guy on the roster has to be capable of doing everything his position may require. That's where you use 2 or 3 guys to give you the options you need to address the requirements of any particular position.

Obviously we all have opinions but logically one does not need to offer an alternative to point out a poor comparison. Certainly that could help make the case though.

Again I hope life is great.

It's not about an alternative. It's a simple question of what role do you see this guy playing for us next year, and who would you compare them to.
If you can't manage that, Jordoo, you should sit on the sidelines.

Do you realize he was just a starter on a tournament team?
All you naysayers need to relax. I would rather have a hard working guy who can play defense than a top name guy who has empty stats.
Too many guys play to get stats just like Freeman and George.
If GMac can get the right guys to play his way and play hard we will be good and be fun to watch. I don’t care how big the name or how much the NIL.

Yeah, you would have to go all the way back to March 2026 to find a time when Dual was a starter on a tournament team.

Certainly things may improve a lot but so far, these acquisitions seem like something Red and staff could do. Crossing my fingers things get better.

I agree he cares about defense, but I fear it's at the expense of offense, which is one of the bad lessons he learned from Boeheim. It's a philosophy that's not conducive to landing top talent or winning titles.

IMO you win with offense. Championship teams rank highly in Ken Pom offensive efficiency rankings, and they tend to score closer to 80 than 70 ppg. Defense matters but not as much.

You can win a title without being a great defensive team. But you can't if you aren't one of the offensive powerhouses.
JB always had at least one star player that he leaned on for offense.

Who started for mcneese this year?

Actually the "role" was not in any of our earlier back and forth. You did discuss that with others but that was not what I addressed. I was simply pointing out that this guy is a much better player than Symir was.

I think its just a guess until the roster fills out and even then things may change once the coaching staff has all the guys working. Right now he's the only PG on the roster so he's first on the depth chart at PG but ahead of no one.

Gerry DEFINITELY cares about his defense.

I don't throw out comps for fun. Idk who he reminds me of. I see his offensive numbers steadily progress each year. Had great offensive numbers in the tourney.

Find the Zephir and Torrence comps laughable, but that's my opinion.
100%. I think someone is still not happy with the Gmac being hired.

Did you actually read OPs first comment in the thread? He’s coming to compete for the job.

And the fools saying Kiyan is starting need to send me what they’re drinkin cuz there’s no chance. He started several games last year and got plenty of mins. This isn’t a situation where it was like oh he never got to show what he could do cuz JJ was so dominant. JJ got injured and also sucked alot so he got plenty of play. Almost 19 mins a game and his metros were really really bad.

I am sure he could get these kinds of guys on his team.

What does that matter when you can’t coach?

This guys stats look like Josh Paces for what’s it’s worth. Same height and weight too.

Had to call that out given the obsession with comparisons lately.

Maybe Gmac has won a Natty and just knows what roles he wants to see on his team.

Melo’ kid didn’t stay to not start

This thread is off the rails.
“This thread needs an enema!!!”
Jack Nicholson Lol GIF

Seems like a lot of these threads needs some help. Same lame arguments in each one.
