Class of 2025 PG Keyshuan Tillery (Albany/ NH) Portal from Cinci

Now this is a kid SU could use. He should have been starting from day 1 at UC but Wes Miller loved his 5th year transfers and 5th year former juco players too much. Tillery forced his way into the lineup and the team was much better down the stretch particularly when Tillery took over the PG and Jizzle James and Day Day Thomas played off the ball.

Was hoping you would chime in given your insight into cincy. How is he as a defender?

He can play D. If I had to pick a playing style I'd say somewhere between Cadeau and Jonny Flynn. He's that build with that quickness, and can knock down the open jumper. Not sure if he'll develop like them but its just a matter of opportunity and producing in my opinion.

He played in the same league as Moesch.
Supposedly they played against each other and Moesch outplayed him.
I don’t know the underlying details though.
Tillery was regarded as one of the stars of that league,

Some tape here. This one could be an interesting angle to play. Might be a lot to work with despite the stats. Cincy played a brutal schedule so competition level wouldn’t be an issue…

Thanks! Can you provide a quick scouting report [how good is his handle? His facilitation / playmaking? His ability to get to the basket?]

He's kind of tough to do a scouting report on because he spent the year as the 3rd guard and was used primarily as a ball handler, defender and spot up shooter for a kickout. The offense never really ran through him because he was always paired with one of Day Day Thomas, Kerr Kriisa or Jizzle James and those are all 3 "ball dominant" guards the offense flowed through. While Tillery wasn't necessarily a game changer when he came in, the energy always picked up. He's 6'0" - 6'1" built like a running back, quick feet, good on the ball and help defender that can hit the open jumper. I wouldn't say getting to the basket is something he has shown, he's more of pullup/floater guy. He got 13 minutes per game on a team with 6 other guards including the returning backcourt, grad transfers from Baylor, WVU and Kentucky and a McD AA. He very easily could have never seen the court but added defense and intensity at a minimum when he did.

I saw him play in a tournament between Jr. and Senior year. I sat with his mother. New Hampton prep was a top program with him and some other players his Jr. and Sr. year. Associate head coach is an SU guy. He told me Key would not be considering SU, and I took that to believe it was his recommendation that Key stay away from SU. Hopefully it was because of Red. The New Hampton coach was at our Vegas tournament last year. I could email him and see what is up, but I don't love doing that sort of stuff. I am a New Hampton alum, and was serving on a capital campaign fund at the time, and was invited to practices and team dinners while they were at the tourney in AZ.
I was impressed with his play. He was tough and intense when I saw him. This tourney had many of the top teams from all over the US.

That seems to be the story of Moesch, yet he is disregarded by many posters

They also beat Tillery's team a month prior 65-64 to win another league title, but I haven't been able to find a box score for that game.

Mason Blackwood (Rochester) also in the portal from Penn State. Tillery and Mason are good friends and played at New Hampton and AAU together. Also sat with his mom at the tournament. Wonder if the Penn State guy brings him to SU. Not sure how he developed at Penn St. in his one year. Chad Cook from the stat sheet a Syracuse kid. He told me he went to Corcoran before New Hampton. I know he committed someplace for next season. Is a senior at New Hampton now. I'd have to go back to find his announcement in my New Hampton team news.

People on this board are really sleeping on Moesch.
He is really good.
Initially turned down both Iowa and Providence for more playing time but less money at Siena.
As someone said in another thread, looks like the guy from the greatest American hero!

He needs to drop down a level. St. Bonaventure would be a good fit.

Would be interesting to see the box score against Rippey where Moesch more than held his own.

neither one played all that great.
Just to round it back to Tillery a bit...I think both Tillery and Moesch could be nice adds to the roster. But I don't think we could take both due to their height. Plus we are looking at the PG from San Jose St who is also 6'0"? Nothing against small guards they can cause a lot of disruption, but can you play with 2 small guards in the ACC? Knowing whomever we pair with one will be taller but if they are 2 of our 3 best guards they will have to play together at some point.
