Class of 2017 PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to Kentucky

Oh what could've been with Shai on the hill and not putting all the eggs in QG's basket..

Wow, you really dug up something from Nov of 2016? Im impressed. Confirms my opinion about you from then till now...pathetic.
Pretty sure you quoted the wrong post. The poster you quoted didn't bump the thread.

Yes, I realized it was Jordville who brought it back because of how good of a game and season SGA is having. All is good, I honestly was not sure why my post from back then was quoted by 2-3, and the more I thought about, the more I realized I do not care. All I can say is good for SGA, and oh well to Quade Green...

Sorry to revisit. SGA had a game and has been balling... so I went back down that rabbit hole (QG, etc).
It's all good! I mean we did learn a lot since.
1) SGA can ball!
2) Plan A, was really only our plan A
3) Plan A, at this point, wishes he could get an 'A'

Does that pretty much sum it all up??

One final time back down the rabbit hole… League MVP, WC Finals MVP, Finals MVP… congrats to Shai (and what could have been if we really went after him or another PG (rather than turn them away or say thanks but no thanks instead of the one who will not be named with all the eggs in one basket).

Swipe for a revisit on SGA if you’re interested…

Maybe one of the worse misses in JBs tenure, and I realize we still likely wouldn’t have gotten him even if we showed him a lot of love.

From my recollection we opted out when he reached out to us? Did that happen with Brunson too? Dang JB.

I don't think fans get too upset that the program misses on 75-85% of the guys they do,
cuz you're just not going to get everyone, that just doesn't happen, but it's the terribly
bad misses on guys who they don't take commitments from, cuz they want someone else,
or it's, they got someone already, and decided not to recruit over them for some reason.
Those were the ones that just sucked.

You missed on A, no biggie, but you missed on A, who wanted to be Orange, cuz you were
all in on B, who ended up blowing you off. Ouch.

You missed on X, who wanted to be Orange, cuz you had Y, who you thought would be a
good player, and he was ok, but X became a star, and you missed out cuz you didn't want to
hurt player Y's feelings. Oops.

I mean Boeheim coached for 47 seasons. Recruiting is an inexact science as we know. Of course he made recruiting mistakes & bad choices along the way… everyone does.

NBA teams have an entire staff of scouts to evaluate people and they have a longer time to evaluate them, and still every team in the NBA passed on Jalen Brunson.

Hey, Detroit took Darko.
Also, your post made me find top 10 undrafted NBA players
and non-first rounders

It's a great accomplishment for SGA with the MVP awards, and the title, but yeah, I do wish
MCW had the same sort of luck. SU needed it after what happened with Johnny Flynn, and
he seemed on his way, but he had the same rotten injury that Flynn had. Talk about bad luck.
Not sure if I want to wish him well boxing ... but at least hope he don't get hurt doing that.

On the NBA drafting, so much is taking flyers on guys now with potential. I mean, how to
do you rate guys like Harper, Bailey and Edgecomb as top 6 guys on their potential and
worry about their fit, and then have Walter Clayton rated where he is? Mostly he'd been out
of the 1st round; recently I'd just seen him start to sneak into it, with one mock having him
at 20. I think he has shown he can play. And unlike being an uber-athlete who can throw up
trash shots for an under .500 team, he hits pressure shots for, you know, WINNERS. You'd
think teams might value that.

Meh...not like Kyle Guy killed it in the NBA. He hit shots in college for WINNERS too.

6'3" is 6'3". He's going to have trouble defending.

I like him, but that 20 range is about where he should be.

As stated in another semi-recent thread (not this one), by Jake or someone in the know, Hop went to JB and said he could land SGA instead of Quade if we moved quickly, and JB said no. I believe it was more than just smoke. This was back in the day when we had the cache to quickly pivot to different high level recruits. But JB always played it so conservatively.

Jake said it the spring after the whole Quade debacle went down. JB built the program and then allowed it to spiral into a complete mess, and no one seemed able to stop him. His stubbornness and inability to adapt was always his biggest weakness.

JB somehow felt he had built up enuf cred to build a team around and featuring his progeny so he fulfills his life long dream. was it great for him and julie ???? sure. great for the program ???...not so much
