Class of 2016 PG Tyus Battle (NJ) Signed LOI

Yup. Came up to Jersey for a tournament and guess who was there? Papa Wes. Boy, that guy's got more extended family than Wilt Chamberlain!
But? Story checks out.
Sincerely,
NCAA

There needs to be a way to like something more than once. 1000 likes for all of Wilt's children.

so sum this up for me insiders... are we done?? Seems ominous on this thread.

I just want to clarify my statement about WWW. I was merely saying IF WWW, stops by to see Tyus Battle, I wouldn't be shocked to see a sudden commitment. I know nothing of a planned visit by WWW.

So, just making sure I'm reading this correctly...what you're saying is WWW is stopping by? I read you loud and clear. Check in the mail. And sure, I'd love a donut right now, thanks!

I must have mis-read your post. I thought it meant Battle and WWW were in the same place at the same time; maybe by happenstance.

There was also the time he offered a toddler some sort of deal if he was able to dribble a basketball 15 times in a row:

"I can tell by lookin at ya that they can use a lot more than $500". Classic DeBiase! Thank you for that, I really needed a chuckle.

Tyus sounded humble and level-headed. It's cool seeing his dad being so thorough. I'm not sure if I should be happy or concerned with him calling JB underrated though.
I view it as a positive that he called JB underrated. Outside of SU fans unfortunately most look at JB as a big underachiever and I'm sure if Smart(87), AO, and Fab situations went differently it would change his perception. Plus Gary Battle must have heard it all with other schools negative recruiting against SU. It's good that he hasn't paid that any mind and seems to respect JB and the program.

According to Zags today, Battle will attend one of Duke's games this weekend (Friday or Saturday) at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn where Duke is playing in the Coaches vs. Cancer tourney. I guess he chose that instead of going to see SU at MSG. Ugh!

I feel like getting a commitment from Battle would be almost too good to be true. I've wanted many different players to play for Syracuse over the years, but, he might be the one I most want. I just can't help but feel like Duke is going to come in and snag him out from under us.

That could very well prove to be true--but JB and Hopkins must like their chances, given that they are all in on Battle as the lone backcourt recruit in the class of 2016. We usually don't try to go toe-to-toe with elite schools like this on prospects very often, and they've got a pretty good "in" with the family.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Yes I agree with you, I like our chances as much as one could. I think what I mean is that I want this kid to play here so badly that he won't simply because of my wanting him to play here so badly. I guess I'm a little snake bitten.

In that case, please go root for him to attend Duke or Kentucky--sounds like that will guarantee that he lands here! ; )

Two words "Stuart Smalley".

117 3 pointers in 17 minutes! Holy cow - if Tyus doesn't see an opportunity to step in and help us then I don't know what to tell him.
