Phil Knight made Oregon Football. Who could make SU Football?

I don't think Davis had the kind of money we're talking about here.

Neither do SU "celebs".

The comp is Phil Knight and T Boone Pickens. These guys are billionaires.

I don't expect any SU alum to step up in that manner. There aren't that many sugar daddies of that magnitude, really. I know we could do a MUCH better job fundraising, but there are many more well versed in our short comings there than me.

Al certainly wasn't in Knight or Pickens territory, but $500 million net worth is nothing to sneeze at. Even 1/10th of his fortune could have done something incredibly impactful for SU.

I wish it were that cheap. $12,500 per seat front row, $10,000 3rd row & $7,500 2nd row and that was awhile ago. Either $70 or $80k per box not including drink & food - might be less for football only boxes.

CuseHulk - you continue to amaze me about your naivety - most boxes and many court side seats are company owned and seats are given out to entertain clients while in town. By definition those people may not follow SU sports like diehards like you but are there for other reasons like business. Boxes and court side seats pay for Dome operations otherwise both your seats and your beer would be even more expensive than what you pay today.

For a live P5 level sports event - you are getting a steal for both football & basketball.
I've had dealings with Cusehulk in the past. From my experience and what I read in his posts, I've decided he is barely drinking age with limited income. He's complained to me about ticket prices I was askingg for football, and he always complains about the price of a beer in the Dome. Both are steals . He needs to expand his horizons and get some real world experience instead of sniveling to us about not liking benefactors to the program and the price of beer. Grow up

You need to talk to him in a way CuseHulk can understand:

Either: "Prices at Dome no high. Prices at other stadiums SMASH puny prices of inflatable stadium."

or: "Look here Syracusemaniac...the prices at the Dome are not that high. Got it, brother? So whatchya gonna do when those great seats and dome foams run wild on yooouuuu?!"

Because they've worked their butts off to be able to enjoy the finer things in life? Yeah, great reason to not like somebody you've never met.
Maybe.

But remember the Malcolm Forbes quotation:

"I got my money the American way--I inherited it."

Is Arthur Rock still alive? Dennis Crowley could be someone too. I imagine Foresquare has made a good amount of money. They could foresquare the hell out of Syracuse facilities.

Al-Waleed bin Talal also has a net worth of a about 30 billion. Can't he spart some? haha

bin Talal Stadium or Kingdom Stadium might make some heads explode.

not many have phil knight money. i think what we need to do is throw a bunch of money at a first rate coach. like $4m per year.

I disagree with this perspective.

If Syracuse University were to receive big money, the best idea would be to build better training facilities, a larger weight room, better study hall and locker facilities, office and other infrastructure.

Fair enough. I still rather pay a big time coach. I put that up top.

Big money does not necessarily translate into good coach.

Jim Boeheim has never been a highly paid coach.

I want someone who is committed to Syracuse University and who is talented.

Once that has been established, the money issue should resolve itself.

RE: The Carrier Dome Experience

I went to the game last night. Great Game and had a great time. One of the best times I have had.

Had my 3 beers for so I could have a little buzz (little) as I left the Carrier Dome into the Freezing Cold.

Sat in 311 right in front of the 311 heaven guys. Those guys are a riot. If you ever have a chance do sit there least once.

to clarify, i want a big time coach number one. i feel big money would ensure we get that because we could get someone proven. obviously, if we stumble on a better bargain, thats great. however, why cant we get someone established?
