Pinstripe Bowl Practice

Interesting that Wax has been the guy repping the Defense and not Mikel
Dino is probably pushing/ encouraging him to take over that role. Similarly to how he had Taj Harris be a featured person on media day back in 2021. This however actually makes much more sense and is a natural fit.

Can watch the interviews at link below

Swag Daddy is the man. If you haven't already I would suggest watching this clip. Guy has the personality to be a future head coach somewhere. I can see why he is a great recruiter as he comes across as genuine and is just a smooth individual.

And he gave real insight as to how Ohana is a very real thing and how great it is to work for Dino.

Yeah, I came away super impressed with Monroe... And wishing we got to hear from him and other coaches more often.

As I’m about halfway through the Monroe’s interview couple things that jumped out at me I loved:

Beck - his description of Anae as a coach and taking that philosophy himself. It’s the coaching philosophy I’ve always adhered to and with roster turnovers having a massive impact, I think the ideology makes the most sense. If you didn’t listen, in a nutshell being adaptable to the players you have and coaching/play calling that meets their strengths. Not trying to fit players into a system and being married to doing things a certain way only.
* on a negative note. It might be his personality but he had a couple opportunities to say how he felt about working at SU, the community, etc. He wasn’t negative at all but he was very broad in his responses. I don’t know if this is just a real short term stop for him whereas Monroe really added depth to why he liked certain things. Not a surprise but I don’t think he’s married to this place at all and we need to be prepared for him to be gone his first opportunity. With how the schedule looks next year, he might be a 1 year guy. Just my opinion.

Monroe - this is a guy I don’t see leaving. Loved his interview and I’m not done with it yet. He’s not a move up the ladder at all costs guy. He mentioned family at least 3 times in the part I’ve listened to already and how Babers genuinely wanting that to be important in their live’s, was important to Monroe. This guy has balance and is happy with his situation, you don’t describe it how he did unless you believe it. Also loved how he said; “grass isn’t always greener” and working in the environment Babers has created for the coaches is more important than coaching at a place where it’s just a job.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this previously, but in the signing day presser Babers commented about Long's team introduction talk. He basically said Long blew everyone away including the coaches. Babers himself said he was ready to go play after listening and that players stopped by his office afterwards and just seemed like a wow moment. I'll have to go back and listen to get the exact words but I got the impression the man can motivate and everyone was pretty jacked up after hearing him out.
Maybe needs to do a one on one talk with Duce to see if that may sway him to return.

Beck absolutely is looking to cut his teeth here and move on. That's okay. Hopefully we get 3 years out of him and have a viable transition.

Might want to have a talk with Beck’s wife. She seems to be very comfortable.
I don't know her and I'm not on Twitter to read what she says or slide into her DMs. What I saw was a guy who after one year couldn't name a single specific thing he likes about syracuse. I would imagine he wants to coach at his Alma mater. He is a Mormon and may want to be in a community of like minded people at a place he chose to go to school because of his faith. Maybe he wants to replace Sitaki someday?

Making a mint with young kids in school. They won't be here for long but I doubt they'll be in a rush either. Might have more to do with HCDB stability.

That was always my outside read on Monroe. Glad he reiterated some of it. He has young kids and loves the time he spends with them. I always assumed he liked some stability at Syracuse and being able to raise his kids in one place. He’s a great guy.

Sitake is only 47 and also a BYU alum. I bet he's here 3 seasons like Tony White and gets an OC deal at a bigger school or becomes a HC because he did a phenomenal job with Cuse.

If Mendenhall takes a P5 job at any point that could coax him away.

She was very comfortable in Virginia too. Not sure your point. If all of a sudden she got to SU and started promoting SU like crazy and had never done that at their previous schools then yeah, I’d get what you’re saying. But she’s a great marketing person, I’m glad we have her. But she did the same thing at Virginia and she’ll do the same thing the next place they go.

Agree but this is a perfect place to run his system. A climate controlled dome, and I really don't expect Dino to coach to many more years, he isn't like JB he has many interests, and would probably enjoy doing other things.

I don’t disagree with that. We have no idea what will happen. I think he’s on the same path as White. Dino isn’t retiring next year. Beck could easily be hired at an SEC/B10 school for at least double the $ after next year. People have the same long term belief in him they did with white, that he’s a star coach in the making. Our schedule should allow him to perform well next year, he could easily get some big offers and be gone before we could even anoint him coach

I mean…is SU anyone’s planned destination? Even alums don’t want to stay. I don’t know what you expect from Beck. It’s pretty clear his destination is as a HC at the highest levels of P5, same as White. He’s going to be a very successful OC here and then he’s going to jump to the next opportunity. It’s business and these guys are ambitious. SU and Syracuse is never going to make someone’s heart race…

Basketball side seems to attract former players to come back here to live , why not football?
