Someone did it - link is in a post above. 13 three pointers on average adding 13 more points or 57 points/game to his 44 per game average.
That is still way off. He averaged 16 FG's per game. There is absolutely no way that 13 of them were from 3 point range.
Basketball in that time, was played at an extremely face pace with all kinds of transition baskets -- a type of game that Maravich excelled at. He was known for his wizardry on drives and transition- there is no way he was only getting 3.5 baskets a game inside the 3 pt line.
If I had to guess the number is probably somewhere around 5. Since there was no line, there was no incentive to step back a few feet. He took long 2's with no care as to where exactly they were from today -- of course today you care a lot to make sure its behind the line. But numbers above 5 are hard to fathom in a high transition era, where there was no reason for Pete to pull up from 22 feet instead of 17 or 18 feet.
That being said if Pete was playing in the transition era of the 60s, with the 3 point shot, it would have altered his shots as well so that he was taking many more 3's. Against those lesser athletes as well, would have been something to see him play with more space to operate inside the lane as well.
