Has to be money. Pitt is in a better place than Nebraska.
Yeah... posters love to bemoan the disadvantages of Syracuse's location, but Nebraska is far more isolated, desolate, cold and depressing. As you say, Pitt is currently in a far better place as a program right now vs. Nebraska as well. Some boosters probably ponied up.

Money talks. I’m sure there’s a time of year Nebraska is lovely

Id probably want to live in pitt but pitt is a pro sports town with little fan support. Plus Narduzzi is a nutcase he probably was tired of dealing with him.

I'm sure he's getting more money. But Whipple is also 64 years old. There's probably more draw for the Nebraska job from those who've been around awhile and remember what that program used to be.

Nebraska is close to being a power again. You can win a Championship at Nebraska. B1G west is not that strong.

Its not at all. Go visit either Lincoln or Omaha and you will be very surprised. The Nebraska economic development commission is top shelf.
If you visit Omaha stay in the Old Market.

And that's why they are now struggling. Their brand was just as good as anyone in the 80's and 90's. Thats why they were able to sustain moderate success. The losing in recent years has really hurt them. Here's the difference, Nebraska was 3-9 and still had 86,000 people at the game. You might get 15,000 at 3-9 SU game.

I don’t really have a problem with a coach announcing he’s leaving for another job prior to a bowl game. What I hate is when a coach waits until the day after National Letter of Intent Signing Day and then announce he’s leaving. Always feels like a bait and switch to me.

I don’t like head coaches leaving during the season. But after the season, it’s fine. I don’t think you can worry about “impact on the bowls”. You got a new job, so go.

Agree 100%. Both nice towns, I would bet that Whipple doubled his pay

I have only visited Omaha for a few hours on several occasions while staying in Council Bluff, IA where my youngest went to school for a year.
#1. Geographically huge.
#2. Lots of money in the area
#3. Downtown area was very clean, with wide streets.
#4. Seemed to be booming.
#5. Large and very important military component to the economy. When Bush came to Nebraska: 9/11 through the eyes of those at Offutt that day

I had a significant operation in Omaha and had an opportunity to work with some of the business leaders at West, Berkshire and others. There is an enormous amount of wealth and intellectual capital there. Same with ND SD and Kansas. Those states have done an excellent job adapting and taking advantage of their strengths. NY on the other hand has never been able to get anything going North of the City. Ive tried numerous times but dealing with economic dev groups in the State is a nightmare.
They simply are not competitive.

I made my bones leveraging the excess telecom that resulted from Offutt once Judge Green changed the world.

Exactly money. Nebraska still fills that stadium for every single game so they have some money to pay coaches.

Lincoln and Omaha are much better than Pittsburgh.

I’m not talking location, others were.

If Nebraska could get that QB from UCF, they'd be a contender.

Everywhere you go in this country, things are more modern and well done than in most of upstate NY.

We have different definitions of close.

But I think Nebraska can rise again. They have the name, they have the money.

But they have to recruit better nationally. It isn't the old days where they can bring in all the local kids, and just run all over everyone.

They were in every game this year down to the last possessions. Omaha Nebraska is a dynamic region, Warren Buffet's HQ is there. Starting next season, they will dominate the B1G west.

It is on record that NOBODY ever went there on vacation. Absolutely nobody.
Unless they tied a family trip into the college world series, or an NCAA tournament game.
