Pitt's Donald wins Nagurski award, Diva Clowney shutout

Senior year? He's a true junior and had no choice but to comeback for another year or sit out. Your posts have been off the chart lately. What

Edited IB. Wrongly assumed. Point remains the same, which was Donald was high motor, high drive. Clowney wasted his talent and potential this year. I hope the Draft rewards Donald and teams are scared off by Clowney's Albert Haynesworth routine.

I guess... whatever.

What a treat it was to watch Donald (well kind of).

I agree with your point... The Clowney things was a joke-- i sure hope it is an isolated incident and that behavior doesn't become the norm.

But good for Donald--

Clowney is a clown with no brains.

it was obvious that he was listening to his agent, not coach.

Clowney didn't want to get a possible career ending injury like Lattimore. I don't blame him whatsoever, and he should still be a top 5 pick. I would have sat out the whole season if I was him.

He cost himself some money and raised questions about his character/drive. He let his teammates down. I would rather have Donald on my team.

Almost makes me happy not to be involved with any 5 star can't miss prospects. South Carolina weathered it. I doubt SU could.

He was also triple teamed every time he was in the game so not sure that was letting his teammates down.

Every offensive gameplan revolved around avoiding him, he was triple teamed, he played 2 games with a stomach flu, and a couple more banged up. I think his conditioning needs to improve, and driving 110 mph was a bonehead move, but the on the field criticisms are pretty much out of line.

They probably wanted to give the award to Clowney but were worried he couldn't make it to the podium before stopping for a breather.

They should be thanking him so they could inflate their stats.

The hate against this kid is amazing. I love how no one is talking about how the coaching staff / Spurrier has handled and utilized him during his stint at USC.

If teams want to pass on him, I'll gladly take him on the Giants.

Hey, teammates - I gotta get mine and besides this is hard getting triple teamed. I'm sitting the season out.

Don't want that kind of guy on my team. Smart business decision or not.

This isn't little league, he should have just sat out. This nonsense about letting your teammates is bush league. Clowney has a chance to secure his future for the next 50 years over the next 9-10 years, don't blame him one bit

I have no idea what you guys think a teammate is? So we should expect little kids to play for each other and care about team, but when it comes down to a guy who will play in the NFL - we should hold him to a lesser standard? Do you not think that NFL teams will look at that and question whether he is worth the money?

I can guarantee you that the teams who have high caliber front offices care about trite things like "is he a good teammate" and "does he play hard" ... sheesh.

Nonsense. They guy is a physical freak and looked out for his future somewhat, the right choice for him would have been to sit out, get an agent, train like a MF'er and get ready. As far as the teammates, staff, fans, nobody truly cares about Clowney's future, they just don't. He owes them nothing.

9.5 out of 10 guys in the NFL look out for themselves and their families first, team second. They say the right things sure because they know better at that point. It's a business as I said not little league, sure most give 100% when out there but they fully understand how short the window is and that they need to maximize their value and GET PAID. These guys have families, and futures to work towards, they see what has happened to all these old school guys with nothing in the bank living in constant pain. What world do you live in? It's not the real world. Ever been to a professional practice, NBA shoot around, these guys are PROS, they have a job to do. This team stuff is nonsense.

Maybe so, but I still admire guys like Sean Hickey and Marcus Spruill for playing to win when they were hurting. What Clowney does may be "normal" but it doesn't get him a standing ovation.

he hasnt cost himself a dime.

lets see how he shows himself at the combine.

if he tears shitt up, he goes #1.

if not, still top 10.

I guess. I think you guys watch too many Rocky reruns. Too much money involved at this point.

Hickey and Spruill weren't surefire top 10 picks before the season though...

Neither are even sure fire 2nd day picks at this point or draft picks for that matter. Hickey I guess looks like a 3rd-5th rounder

Do you really think Clowney has never played when he was hurt? Really? Every game he played in this year he had some kind of injury, basically.

These kids, especially guys as popular as Clowney make the schools and the NCAA tons of money and if he gets an injury that is career-threatening, what does he have to go on? "Hey, remember when I used to be able to run a 4.4 forty? That was pretty cool!"

It's a business. For the elite athletes, it's a business starting as teenagers. He has to take care of himself and his family first and foremost. He has taken care of USC plenty with revenue generation and his play.

If he gets himself healthy and ready for the evaluates and performs as he can, he'll go #1 or #2. If not, he'll go in the top 10.

Don't buy it for a second. You can be both. A good teammate who plays hard on every down and a guy who takes talent + leadership to the bank. The truth is that he has caused teams to have doubt about his head/heart/leadership. Good teams care about that. It's a part of what you look at, right? Or do they do the interviews just for fun?

No one is arguing that he shouldn't get paid - I'm just saying that he hurt himself this season. If I was his agent, I'd say play your A@@ off and be a leader, good teammate on and off the field - and let your world class talent, all pro-potential decapitate a few QB's. Not what he did this season. And maybe sitting out the season would be a touch better than his performance this year - but the questions about him not playing would be a yellow flag unto themselves.

As the draft gets closer, you'll be hearing a lot of questions about his character. Had he done things the right way, it would be all talk about his talent and a sure fire #1.

all the pre season hype ! personally i'd pass on clowney . any dude who puts $$$$ in front of maximum effort and possible injury and instead coasts it home on his team mates… no thanks.
